🔒 Fusion = locked, no movement
🔄 Mobile bearing device = stabilized, but still moves

We help you find what's best for your spine—not just what's easiest to perform.

Our physicians and team had the best time celebrating St. Patrick’s Day alongside the community we’re proud to serve every day. From the float to the crowd, it was a reminder that what we do goes far beyond the clinic.

Endoscopic spine surgery is changing the game for patients dealing with herniated discs, spinal stenosis, and nerve compression.

Unlike traditional open surgery, endoscopic techniques use a tiny camera and specialized instruments, and a very tiny incision. The result? Less tissue damage, faster recovery, and often same-day discharge.

Schedule a consultation to see if endoscopic spine surgery is right for you!

Smaller than a dime. That's the size of the incision used in endoscopic spine surgery.

If you've been told you need spine surgery, you might be picturing major incisions, long recovery, and months away from normal life. But endoscopic spine surgery has changed this.

At The Spine Center of Louisiana, our spine surgeons specialize in advanced techniques like endoscopic procedures. We're a spine-focused practice, which means we're not treating shoulders one day and knees the next, we're 100% spine, every day.

If you're living with pain, it's worth finding out if you're a candidate. Schedule a consultation today!

Are you looking down at your phone right now?

If you're reading this, there's a good chance your neck is bent forward and your shoulders are rounded. And if you do this for hours every day, you're putting serious strain on your spine.

Here's what "tech neck" actually does to your body:
❌ Adds up to 60 pounds of pressure on your cervical spine
❌ Weakens the muscles that support your neck and upper back
❌ Leads to chronic pain, tension headaches, and nerve compression
❌ Accelerates disc degeneration in your neck

Your spine wasn't designed for 8+ hours of looking down every day.

If you're already dealing with chronic neck or upper back pain, it's time to get it checked. Our spine-only specialists can help you understand what's happening and create a treatment plan that works.

Spinal stenosis is one of the most common spine conditions we treat, but most people don't fully understand what it is.

Here's the breakdown:

🔹 What it is: Narrowing of the spaces in your spine, which puts pressure on the nerves

🔹 What causes it: Age-related wear and tear, arthritis, herniated discs, thickened ligaments

🔹 Common symptoms: Pain, numbness, or weakness in the legs or arms. Some people feel relief when sitting or leaning forward.

🔹 How it's diagnosed: Physical exam + imaging (MRI or CT scan)

🔹 Treatment options: Physical therapy, injections, and in more severe cases, minimally invasive decompression surgery

The good news? Spinal stenosis is treatable. You don't have to live with the pain!

If this sounds familiar, it's time to get answers.

A first for Baton Rouge spine care.⚕️

Dr. Kevin McCarthy just completed the first Barricaid procedure in our city, a breakthrough technique that reduces the risk of reherniation after discectomy surgery.

Here's why this matters for Louisiana patients:
-> After a discectomy (surgery to remove a herniated disc), there's always a risk the disc could herniate again. Barricaid is an annular closure device that seals the disc opening, significantly lowering that reherniation risk and supporting longer-lasting relief.

If you've had a herniated disc or failed back surgery, this is the kind of innovation that changes outcomes. And now it's available right here.

Thank you to the Intrinsic Therapeutics team for the training, JLS Implants and Steve Belter for their support, and Jeanne E. Steyer, PA-C and Ana Heully, MPH for their collaboration in making this landmark case possible.

Walking into a spine specialist's office for the first time can feel overwhelming. We get it.

Here's what actually happens at your first consultation with us:

1️⃣ We listen. Your pain, your story, what you've already tried—it all matters.

2️⃣ We review your imaging. X-rays, MRIs, CT scans—we'll go through them together so you understand what's happening.

3️⃣ We explain your options. Conservative care, injections, minimally invasive surgery—we'll map out what makes sense for you.

4️⃣ We answer every question. No rushing. No medical jargon you don't understand.

5️⃣ You leave with a plan. Whether that's treatment, more testing, or a second opinion—you'll know the next step.

You're not just a case number here. You're a person who deserves answers and a path forward.
