LaCASU The Louisiana Center Addressing Substance Use in Collegiate Communities (LaCASU) Office conducts collegiate ATOD research & dissemination in Louisiana.

In 2006, at the end of the 8-year period with the “A Matter of Degree” grant-funded study, two LSU Coalition partners, the Office for Behavioral Health of the LA Department of Health and Hospitals (http://new.dhh.louisiana.gov/?shpid=10) and the LA Highway Safety Commission (http://www.lahighwaysafety.org/) extended funding to the LSU project to expand the environmental model to other institutions of higher education in Louisiana, to continue the work of the Baton Rouge area campus-community coalition, and to fund the statewide administration of the Core Alcohol Survey. The Louisiana Center Addressing Substance Use (LaCASU), housed at LSU and part of the office of Equity, Diversity, and Community Outreach (EDCO), was created out of this latest funding, to serve as the administrative office for the two entities that carry out the alcohol/drug prevention efforts made possible by our current state funding. These are the Baton Rouge Community Alliance (BRCA) and the Louisiana Higher Education Coalition (LaHEC).
