10/10 for my whole experience with Birth Help. The application/interview process was rigorous and helped my husband and I decide what we wanted for our birth and get serious about going natural.

I am so thankful I hired Claire to be my doula. Not only was she extremely knowledgeable and supportive, but she immediately felt like a close friend! I could not have had the beautiful, natural birth experience I had without her help.

She worked tirelessly with my husband to comfort me while helping my labor progress with encouragement and various movement strategies. She supported us through various unexpected challenges in labor and it was so helpful to have a present, experienced person who was on our side to bounce ideas off of. She helped us advocate for ourselves and make informed decisions throughout the process.

Claire helped energize me with affirmations and encouragements when labor was very hard for me and my husband. In the end, we were able to go all natural and have a wonderful joyful experience. I highly recommend Birth Help to anyone, even if not planning to go natural as knowing Claire was with us throughout the process made our experience so much more peaceful and smooth.

Anyone would be blessed to have her support!

Birth Help's Doula Team is growing. Welcome, Bailey Reihm!

Bailey’s journey into birth work began after welcoming her first son at Birth Center of Baton Rouge in 2018. That moment sparked a deep calling to support other women during one of the most sacred and powerful times of their lives. Bailey became a BEST-Certified Doula and began attending births in 2020.

While Bailey is especially passionate about natural, unmedicated birth, her heart as a doula is to ensure every mother feels deeply supported, respected, and empowered, no matter what their birth plan looks like. She is a steady source of peace, encouragement, and evidence-based information, and is honored to walk alongside families with compassion, prayer, and presence as they welcome new life.

When she’s not serving families, you’ll find Bailey enjoying time with her husband and three boys. She enjoys serving in church, getting lost in a good book, sipping strong coffee, and caring for her ever-growing collection of houseplants.

Ashton was such a great support throughout my pregnancy and birth! She was crucial in the last few weeks when I was just ready to HAVE THAT BABY!

She kept me calm during labor and gave me tips to get it going. She was fast to come meet us at the birth center and was so helpful. My birth was fortunately very fast, so she stayed a little while after and even helped me shower. A true angel!! I cannot recommend her enough :)

Louisiana House Bill 454 would require Medicaid to reimburse doulas for care provided before, during, and after birth—including five prenatal visits, three postpartum visits, and continuous support during labor, including cesarean births. It also covers breastfeeding and parenting education, as well as support after pregnancy loss. To be reimbursed, doulas must register with the new Louisiana Doula Registry Board and will then be recognized as providers by all Medicaid plans. The bill also ensures doula-related language in managed care contracts can’t be discriminatory and outlines a clear timeline for implementation starting in 2025.

The bill doesn’t actually say how much doulas will be paid or set the reimbursement rates. Instead, it puts the responsibility on the Louisiana Department of Health to figure that out. They’ll determine the rates by looking at what other states are paying for similar services (basically using “market benchmarks”).

What this means for doulas is that the payment structure isn’t set yet, but we’ll likely have a chance to weigh in once the Department starts setting those rules. There could be opportunities to share thoughts through public comments or advocacy efforts.

If you had a doula for your birth, and you'd like to briefly speak during this event, Amanda Kay will meet you there and guide you through the process.
