🌿Why Do Midwives Believe in Physiological Birth? 🌿
Because birth works — and the evidence backs it up. 📚
Midwives are trained to support the body’s natural ability to give birth, trusting the process while always keeping safety at the center.
✨ Here's why physiological birth matters:
It reduces unnecessary interventions (like inductions or C-sections).
It supports the natural hormones that power birth and bonding.
It leads to smoother recoveries and higher birth satisfaction.
It honors your emotional, physical, and mental well-being.
🌱 And here’s the key: this isn’t just philosophy. Studies consistently show that for low-risk pregnancies, letting birth unfold naturally (with skilled support) leads to better outcomes for both mom and baby.
Physiological birth doesn’t mean doing it alone — it means being supported in a way that protects your body’s natural rhythm and your autonomy.

Your body knows how to birth.
Our job is to hold space for that process. 💫

This October, we honor the strength and resilience of every mother, sister, and daughter facing breast cancer with courage. 💗
Breast cancer awareness begins with knowing your body, trusting your instincts, and leaning on your community. Stay connected with your body, keep up with routine check-ups, and be aware of your risks. 🌸

Is birthing with a birth center safe?
A freestanding birth center is a comfortable, home-like place where midwives care for low-risk clients during pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum. Birth centers have been shown to be very safe, and at the Birth Center of Baton Rouge we take every step to ensure the safe delivery of your baby. We are nationally accredited by the Commission for the Accreditation of Birth Centers and follow up-to-date standards of care.
At each visit we assess your health; healthy pregnancy supports a healthy birth. We take note of any risk factors that you may have and consult with our medical director. While most low-risk pregnancies go smoothly, we recognize that emergencies can happen. Our proximity to the hospital assures that the process of transferring care occurs in a streamlined and seamless way.

Blood pressure - let's talk about it! 🩺
We carefully check your blood pressure during pregnancy, labor, and after birth because it’s a key sign of how your heart is working. High blood pressure puts extra stress on your body and can be cause for concern.
During pregnancy, high blood pressure could lead to early delivery. It can also affect organs like your kidneys or liver and lead to a serious condition called preeclampsia, which can happen during pregnancy or shortly after birth.
If not treated, high blood pressure can cause serious problems like kidney failure, stroke, heart attack, or heart failure. That’s why it’s important to understand your blood pressure and ask questions if it becomes a concern.
By keeping an eye on it, we can help protect both you and your baby.
