Teen Violence Awareness Month Imagine this: You're 16. Your partner constantly checks your phone, gets mad when you hang out with friends, and posts "subtle" things about you on social media when they're upset. At school, rumors start spreading. You feel anxious, distracted, and alone -- but you tell yourself, "It's not that serious." But here's the truth: controlling behavior is not love. Public embarrassment is not love. Threats, intimidation, or isolation are not love. Sometimes teens won't say, "I'm not okay." Instead, they show us. Healthy relationships should make you feel safe, respected, and confident--not anxious or afraid. This month is a reminder that teen safety and mental well-being go hand in hand. Violence doesn't always start with fists -- sometimes it begins with words, pressure, jealousy, control, online bullying, or silence. When teens feel supported, heard, and valued, they are less likely to engage in or experience violence and more likely to seek help. Let's work together to build healthier minds and safer communities -- not just this month, but every day!
