Governor Whitmer Makes Appointments to Boards and Commissions

Michigan Board of Acupuncture
Dr. Mark Crapo, of Battle Creek, is the owner of iCARE: Center for Acupuncture, Restoration and Energy. Dr. Crapo holds a degree in sports medicine, comparative world religions, s*x education, physical education and teaching the academic study of religions in the public schools from Central Michigan University, a graduate degree in acupuncture, and a and Doctor of Oriental Medicine from California Acupuncture College. He also served as an officer in the United States Air Force. Dr. Mark Crapo will be reappointed as an acupuncturist for a term commencing July 1, 2026, and expiring June 30, 2030. Dr. Crapo is currently the Vice-Chair of the Board and also serves on the Disciplinary Subcommittee.
Carlota Almanza-Lumpkin, of Detroit, is an official member and corresponding secretary of the Tuskegee Airmen Incorporated, an Executive Director of the Michigan Chapter of the National Academy of Television, Arts, and Sciences, and is a former production manager for WTVS and Detroit Public Television. Almanza-Lumpkin has served as production manager for multiple PBS program series, including “Neal Shine’s Detroit” and “Detroit Black Journal”. Almanza-Lumpkin holds a Bachelor of Science in psychology and biology from the University of Michigan. Carlota Alamanza-Lumpkin will be reappointed as a member of the general public for a term commencing July 1, 2026, and expiring June 30, 2030.
The Michigan Board of Acupuncture works with the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) to oversee the practice of acupuncturists. The Board has the obligation to take disciplinary action against registrants who have adversely affected the public's health, safety, and welfare.
These appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
