"In my addiction, I believed I was alone and hopeless, a lost cause destined to die from the disease of addiction. However, no matter how far down I dug my hole of self-pity, when I became willing to change, there was always a recovering addict willing to help me out of that hole. I never had to be alone again. I had found my tribe." - Samuel Hart, Landmark Recovery of Knoxville Alumni Coordinator

When patients were discharged from Praxis of Carmel by Landmark Recovery in the past, they left their handprint on a wall. When those patients passed away, current patients would place a purple ribbon by their handprint. When the wall got too crowded, staff created a brand-new polaroid wall dedicated to those patients, with polaroid photos of their handprint, and their ribbons hanging nearby. Our patients who have passed away aren't just numbers, they're beautiful people who deserve to be honored. This wall was made to celebrate their lives.

It’s , and today we’re listening to “This Is Me Trying” by Taylor Swift. Released on July 24, 2020 and written by Taylor and Jack Antonoff, the song is about people who are suffering from addiction or mental illness who struggle everyday.

What do you think of this song?

Chorus:
They told me all of my cages were mental
So I got wasted like all my potential
And my words shoot to kill when I'm mad
I have a lot of regrets about that
I was so ahead of the curve, the curve became a sphere
Fell behind on my classmates, and I ended up here
Pouring out my heart to a stranger
But I didn't pour the whiskey
