During a national wrestling tournament, 14-year-old Mason Caveng’s opponent caught him in an illegal move that caused his right knee to buckle with a loud pop, the sound of a torn ACL. A few days later, his doctor confirmed the injury and Mason underwent surgery.
A quarterback, wrestler and lifelong athlete, Mason’s recovery began at our NovaCare Rehabilitation center in Williamstown, New Jersey, where he worked with Physical Therapists Alea Krouse and Ashley Miller. His rehabilitation program focused on restoring knee strength and stability through range-of-motion exercises, progressive strengthening, balance training and sport-specific drills.
Thanks to his hard work and our team’s support, Mason’s knee grew stronger, his confidence returned and he’s ready to take the field and mat again.
“I’ve definitely reached my goals, but as an athlete, I’m never settled where I am. There’s always room for improvement,” Mason said. “Every therapist I had took amazing care of me … I always left with a smile on my face.”
