1. Cucumbers contain most of the vitamins you need every day, just one cucumber contains Vitamin B1, Vitamin B2, Vitamin B3, Vitamin B5, Vitamin B6, Folic Acid, Vitamin C, Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Potassium and Zinc.

2. Feeling tired in the afternoon, put down the caffeinated soda and pick up a cucumber. Cucumbers are a good source of B vitamins and Carbohydrates that can provide that quick pick-me-up that can last for hours.

3. Tired of your bathroom mirror fogging up after a shower? Try rubbing a cucumber slice along the mirror, it will eliminate the fog and provide a soothing, spa-like fragrance.

4. Are grubs and slugs ruining your planting beds? Place a few slices in a small pie tin and your garden will be free of pests all season long. The chemicals in the cucumber react with the aluminum to give off a scent undetectable to humans but drive garden pests crazy and make them flee the area.

5. Looking for a fast and easy way to remove cellulite before going out or to the pool? Try rubbing a slice or two of cucumbers along your problem area for a few minutes, the phytochemicals in the cucumber cause the collagen in your skin to tighten, firming up the outer layer and reducing the visibility of cellulite. Works great on wrinkles too!!!

6. Want to avoid a headache? Eat a few cucumber slices before going to bed and wake up refreshed and headache free. Cucumbers contain enough sugar, B vitamins and electrolytes to replenish essential nutrients the body lost, keeping everything in equilibrium, avoiding both a hangover and headache!!

7. Looking to fight off that afternoon or evening snacking binge? Used for centuries for quick meals and even to thwart off starvation.

8. Rub a freshly cut cucumber over the shoe, its chemicals will provide a quick and durable shine that not only looks great but also repels water.

9. Out of WD 40 and need to fix a squeaky hinge? Take a cucumber slice and rub it along the problematic hinge, and voila, the squeak is gone!

10. Stressed out and don't have time for massage, facial or visit to the spa? Cut up an entire cucumber and place it in a boiling pot of water, the chemicals and nutrients from the cucumber will react with the boiling water and be released in the steam, creating a soothing, relaxing aroma that has been shown the reduce stress in new mothers and college students during final exams.

11. Just finish a business lunch and realize you don't have gum or mints? Take a slice of cucumber and press it to the roof of your mouth with your tongue for 30 seconds to eliminate bad breath, the phytochemicals will kill the bacteria in your mouth responsible for causing bad breath.

12. Looking for a 'green' way to clean your faucets, sinks or stainless steel? Take a slice of cucumber and rub it on the surface you want to clean, not only will it remove years of tarnish and bring back the shine, wont leave streaks and won't harm you fingers while you clean.

13. Works great on crayons and markers that the kids have used to decorate the walls!!

Pass this along.... once you're a pickle you'll never be a cucumber 🥒 again!!!

Day 1 — Celebrating 24 hours without complaining about anything! (Well… at least not out loud 😇). That’s progress, people!
Apparently, science says when we speak negativity, our brains start believing it — so I’m flipping the script and speaking blessed life instead. (Also, Jesus is probably thrilled I’m giving Him a break from hearing me say, “Sorry, Lord-Again!” 😅)

Here’s to small beginnings, big faith, and endless grace — especially for the folks still perfecting their “non-complaining voice.” One quiet victory (and a few deep breaths) at a time! 🙏 From challenge to calling, from trials to this testimony. God’s not done with me yet. ✝️

📵 Phone Down, Eyes Up 🌿

I take at least one full hour every morning to connect with God before I connect with the world.
On Tuesdays and Saturdays, I keep my phone tucked away, for hours at a time; out of sight, out of mind, so I can be present with people, face to face.

I also try not to scroll for more than 5 minutes at a time. It’s not always easy, but I remind myself:
Progress, not perfection. 💛

Creating space from electronics helps me reconnect—with faith, people, and myself.

✨ What helps you unplug and stay grounded? I’d love to hear.

Confession time: At my age, I stop every 30 minutes to 2 hours to p*e — so when I fly or take long trips, I proudly stop drinking water so I don’t have to wiggle past strangers every hour. Genius, right? Nope.

Turns out, our bodies are basically walking water balloons, made up of 70% H2O — skin, joints, brain, all begging for a sip. Dehydrating myself just makes me cranky, creaky, and dry as a raisin.

So I’m learning to sip smarter (your face will thank you, too!): jazz up my water with cucumber, lemon, or berries, and — yes — take the bathroom breaks. Hydration packets? They’re handy sometimes (like after sweating buckets or being sick) but they’re not magic potions — they won’t fix skipping water and can pack in extra salt or sugar you don’t need. Besides, if you're not sweating out the event tra electrolytes, it could have some negative effects.

💦 Bottom line: p*e proudly, hydrate happily, flavor it up, and don’t fear the aisle seat! 😉✨

Hey friends, I wanted to share a little PSA from my recent dermatologist visit:
I had a biopsy done on a spot on my chest to check for skin cancer. Thankfully it’s being handled, but it was a wake-up call. When I was younger, I thought I was a sun goddess — tanning at salons, soaking up every ray I could find. Back then, SPF was just an annoying symbolic bottle in my beach bag.
Well… fast-forward a few decades: brown spots are very real for me now — and skin cancer is even more real. So, here’s my gentle nudge to you: protect your precious skin. We only get one piece!

💧 Hydrate inside & out: Drink plenty of water, eat water-rich foods (hello cucumbers & watermelon), and use a good moisturizer. Hydration helps your skin stay plump and youthful — and your organs will thank you too.

🌞 Be sun smart:
Wear broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher every day — yes, even when it’s cloudy.

Reapply every 2-3 hours if you’re outdoors.

Wear hats, sunglasses, and protective clothing.

Skip the tanning beds — your future self will high-five you in the mirror for it!

🌤️ Get your vitamin D safely: A few minutes of sun is enough for most people — or ask your doctor if a supplement makes sense for you.

✨ Bonus tip: Regular skin checks save lives. Keep an eye on any spots that change, itch, bleed, or just look suspicious — and don’t wait to see a dermatologist.
So, protect your largest organ — and your youthful glow — while you’re at it. Aging gracefully doesn’t mean frying like bacon.
See Elina Fedotova at Elina Organics located in Kalamazoo for help with products that protect. She's the best at her profession.

Stay tuned, because I’ll be sharing more on how hydration, nutrition, and smart habits keep us feeling fabulous. Drop your sun-smart tips or funny tanning stories below, we’re all in this together! 🧴☀️💧
