We’ve been busy! Kyle grilled brats for our Men’s Lunch. After a great meal and even better conversation they had root beer floats!

Then, we got the amazing opportunity to volunteer and help Operation Christmas Child!

CONGRATULATIONS to our September Employee of the Month - VANESSA! 👏👏 Vanessa has been a member of our care team as a RCA and Med Tech for two and a half years. She says her favorite part of her job is taking care of the residents and listening to their stories. Thank you so much for all you do, we appreciate you more than you know!! 😊❤

Day 5 of Cruisin’ Through National Assisted Living Week!
Today we wore our tie dye shirts and stopped in Italy for a wonderful lunch-complete with cannoli! We enjoyed music from Molly and Otto. The managers (and a resident or two) washed staff cars, we enjoyed ice cream, sunshine and laughter outside before we came back in for Bingo.

Thank you to Heart to Heart Hospice for a great breakfast for our team!

Today we enjoyed the USA for Day 4 of Cruisin’ Through National Assisted Living Week!
Elvis was in the building! He sang, danced and stole a few hearts!
Then, families joined us for a Human Slot Machine, Star Spangled Shortcake and the Cereal City Concert Band! It was a perfect night for family and beautiful music!

Day Three of Crusin’ through National Assisted Living Week!

We had a perfect beach day today! After a stop in Asia for lunch, we had a beach music party with Paul and Whitney. Scott brought a Harley over for residents to sit on (and even took a few for a ride!). Thanks to Jill for the beautiful Cruise Photos!
Chiller Thriller ice cream truck stopped by, then we played Family Feud. The Crazy Cruisers Team won! Then, Scott donated a great cash prize for the Bingo Coverall!
A huge thanks to AdvisaCare for providing pizza for our team today!

It’s Day Two of our National Assisted Living Week Cruise!
We had a great German Lunch then sang and danced along with Dave on Piano. We laughed so much during Balloon Volleyball we forgot we were getting exercise, then we enjoyed a special German Band after dinner!
We even had a visit from some friendly ducks. And, we wore fun hats!
A huge thank you to Elara Caring for the wonderful lunch for our team!

It’s National Assisted Living Week and we are on a Cruise!
Today, we wore Disney/Cartoon gear, enjoyed music, Bingo and staff games!
We visited Mexico for lunch, and the residents got their passports stamped!
A huge thanks to Preston at Centerwell for the great staff lunch!

Congratulations to our Spotlight Resident, Joan! She was born in Edenville, Michigan near Midland in 1935. Joan graduated from Standish High School, then Central Michigan University with a teaching degree. She also earned a master’s degree in education from Western Michigan University. When Joan was 19 years old, she signed a teaching contract to teach in a 2-room country school! She loved teaching at that small school.
Joan was blessed with a daughter who passed away recently. Joan has a granddaughter who lives in Seattle and was recently married. Her grandson lives in Hastings with his wife and two children; they visit her often. She adores her grandchildren and great grandchildren; they are the light of her life!
Joan was married twice, but she married the love of her life, Bill, in 1977. He owned a car dealership in Hastings. When Joan got married and moved to Hastings with her second husband, she substituted in the local schools. Joan lived in several places including Hastings, Battle Creek, and Grand Rapids. Joan retired from Lakeview Public Schools after 39 years of teaching, mostly fifth grade. After retirement, Bill and Joan purchased a motor home and enjoyed traveling! Joan also used her retirement to volunteer at the hospital in Hastings.
Now, Joan enjoys time in her apartment, reading and calls upon her faith to try to keep a cheerful outlook. Joan says “His time, not my time” whenever she faces a struggle.
