Let’s be honest…Christmas is magical… and also a sensory overload minefield. Lights, noise, sugar, schedule chaos. If your child melts down more this time of year, it’s not behavior…it’s biology. All the REASONS why… we still can’t use as excuses !!!! However we can parent with understanding 🎄

Here’s simple, doable tips to make your holiday more magical for YOU & child👇

🎄 Keep routines as close to normal as possible.
Same wake time. Same meals. Predictability = safety.

🎄 Movement before events.
Wall pushes, animal walks, bear hugs, wheelbarrow walks. Calm the body before expecting calm behavior.

🎄Lower expectations.
Your child’s nervous system doesn’t know it’s “Christmas.” Don’t ask for more regulation than they can give.

🎄 Heavy work is your best friend.
Carrying gifts, pushing laundry baskets, helping wrap with resistance. Regulation disguised as helping.

🎄 Watch the sugar + food dyes.
Spikes = crashes = meltdowns. Balance treats with protein and fats.

🎄 Give warnings before transitions.
“10 minutes… 5 minutes… one more thing.” Surprises feel like threats to an immature nervous system.

🎄 Quiet breaks are not punishments.
Create a calm corner, weighted blanket, headphones, dim lights. Reset, don’t remove.

🎄 Choose clothes wisely.
Tight, itchy, scratchy outfits can send reflexes into overdrive. Comfort first…always.

🎄 Limit back-to-back events.
One activity per day is plenty for a child working overtime just to regulate.

🎄 Behavior is communication.
When they “lose it,” ask: What does their nervous system need right now?

🎄 Protect sleep like it’s sacred.
Overtired nervous systems cannot self-regulate. Early bedtime beats late-night memories.

🎄 Breathe. Slow down. Stay regulated yourself.

‘Twas the week before Christmas, and all through the town,
One soul felt very confident… maybe a little too proud.

They said, “I’ve got time. I’ll shop later this week.”
They scrolled Amazon half-heartedly, feeling quite chic.

But then….
The shipping dates slipped.
The carts sold out.
Everything left screamed “generic, beige, and last-minute panic.”

Meanwhile…
Down a cozy little road (with good smells and even better vibes),
By A Thread sat quietly doing what it does best…

Not everyone’s skin is the same.
Not everyone’s body is the same.
So why would one soap work for everyone?

At By A Thread, we carry a variety of tallow, goat milk, and castor-based soaps and body items because choice matters. Some skin loves rich, traditional tallow. Some needs the gentle nourishment of goat milk. Others do best with castor’s deep, clean moisture.

And here’s the other part we care deeply about:
we don’t believe in doing it all just to say we did. Everything we carry is locally made and by local, we mean small businesses, not corporations with boardrooms, shortcuts, and ingredient lists no one can pronounce. Our Center

Our team here at NeuroPower Solutions focuses on the success of your child. Our hemispheric based program is a non-medical supplemental learning program for children who exhibit symptoms of non neurotypical behaviors such as anxiety, sensory processing disorder, autism, attention deficit disorder (ADD), attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), or dyslexia.

Our center runs a 24-week educational program that integrates physical & cognitive activities with dietary change to improve children’s functioning and to reduce or eliminate negative behaviors by correcting underlying imbalances in the connections within the brain hemispheres.

Our protocols do not require a licensed health professional, and are not considered "therapy." We are a supplemental learning center, therefore, are not covered by health insurance.
