Mrs. O’s is THRILLED to welcome Heidi Thorpe (ASHA-Certified Speech and Language Pathologist) to the Mrs. O’s family!
Heidi graduated with her M.A. from WMU. Heidi has provided therapy at South Shore Speech since the winter of 2011, and worked at Portage Public Schools from 2012-2016... where her friendship with Nancy, Meaghan, and Katelyn began!
South Shore Speech, whose main office is located in Battle Creek, has provided excellent speech and language therapy to children since 2000. South Shore Speech seeks to help children speak clearly, listen, understand, and remember. A fee schedule is available upon request. Many insurance carriers cover the evaluation and treatment of speech and language disorders, and South Shore Speech would be glad to bill your insurance company directly.
Heidi has worked to habilitate speech and language skills for children with many differing disorders including childhood apraxia of speech, developmental delay, articulation, phonological, expressive and receptive language, autism, fluency, social, and myofunctional disorders. Heidi provides therapy both in-person and through teletherapy.
Heidi believes the best way to make progress through therapy is with caregiver involvement and support, functional and developmentally appropriate goals, and engagement with the child.
Heidi is a Portage resident, mother of two (Henry and Mabel), wife, nature-enthusiast, and committed to life-long learning. When she isn’t providing excellent evidence-based therapy, she is going on adventures with her family, hiking, practicing yoga, running, cooking, and playing with her children.
Heidi will provide therapy to those attending Mrs. O’s Preschool, and those who do not. A major advantage for children attending school and therapy at Mrs. O’s Preschool will be the collaboration and communication between therapist, teacher, and family.
