Acupuncture can have amazing restorative effects for post-stroke return of function. Ideally the treatments begin immediately after release from the hospital, but up to 6 weeks later can have nearly as many positive outcomes when done in conjunction with physical therapy and/or Tai Chi. After 6-9 months, only pain relief is likely.

There is now a volunteer ride-service in Clark County that even goes up into the hills for people who need to get to/around town for appointments or shopping. I'm told they can leave folks at a store or wherever for however long and come back when the person is ready to be picked up. What a blessing, and they need volunteer drivers to help spread the love.
