🧊❄️ Cold Weather Reminder ❄️🧊

South Georgia Diagnostic and Prevention Center

South Georgia isn’t used to temps like this — so let’s stay safe and warm! 🧤🔥
Cold weather can put extra stress on your body, especially for children, seniors, and anyone with chronic conditions.

Cold-weather tips to keep in mind:
• Layer up and cover exposed skin
• Keep your home safely heated
• Stay hydrated (yes, even when it’s cold!)
• Watch for signs of illness or breathing trouble

If the cold has you feeling under the weather, we’re here for you. Your health doesn’t take a winter break. 💙

🍀✨ New Year’s Day Foods Said to Bring Good Health & Luck ✨🍀

[ These traditions have been passed down for generations — and while they’re symbolic, many of these foods are also packed with nutrients that support overall health. ]

🥬 Collard Greens / Leafy Greens
Symbolize health, vitality, and prosperity (the green = money + growth)

🫘 Black-Eyed Peas
Represent good luck, protection, and overall wellness for the year ahead
(Southern staple for a reason!)

🌽 Cornbread
Stands for abundance and nourishment — often paired with peas & greens

🐟 Fish
Symbolizes strength, movement forward, and good health
(Traditionally eaten in many cultures on New Year’s Day)

🍇 Grapes (12 at midnight)
Popular in Spanish culture — one grape for each month of health and luck

🍜 Noodles / Long Grains
Represent long life and longevity in many Asian traditions

💧 Water
Starting the year hydrated is believed to “cleanse” and reset the body

❄️ Braving the Cold, South Georgia Style ❄️

When the temperature drops, your health needs a little extra care — even down here in South Georgia.

🧣 Bundle up – Cold weather can tighten blood vessels and raise blood pressure.
💧 Stay hydrated – You may feel less thirsty, but your body still needs fluids.
😷 Watch cold & flu symptoms – Cooler temps mean more time indoors and more germs spreading.
🩺 Don’t skip checkups – Winter is a great time to stay on top of preventive care and screenings.

Cold weather might not last long around here, but protecting your health should.
If something feels off, or it’s been a while since your last visit, we’re here for you.

📍 Caring for South Georgia — in every season.
