Mark James Dorey, a cherished soul known lovingly as Markie to his friends and family, left this world peacefully due to natural causes on April 28, 2025, in his hometown of Saginaw, Michigan. Born on January 30, 1980, in the same close-knit community, Mark's journey was one of joy, love, and unwavering faith.



Mark's life was a beautiful testament to the love he held for his extensive family. He shared a special bond with the mother of his children, Rachel Nutt, whose partnership in parenting nurtured a loving environment for their family. He was the proud and dedicated father to Allesea Quackenbush, wife to Dennis, Gabrielle Dorey, Lilly Dorey, Nicholas Himmelein, Cheeto Himmelein, Emma Himmelein, Graceson Dorey, and Melissa Roberts. Floyd James Worthington, known affectionately as Floyd to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2025, at the age of 62, in Wixon, MI. Born on April 12, 1963, in Bay City, MI, Floyd's life was a tapestry of love, adventure, and the joy of discovery.

Floyd was the treasured son of Floyd (Rose) Worthington and a beloved brother to Carol Knak, Sylvia Canute, Mary Ward, Alexandria Worthington, and Michelle Worthington. His legacy of love continues through his devoted daughter, Martha Worthington, and his cherished granddaughter, Miyia, who were the apples of his eye. He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Ward; sister, Linda Smith; and brother-in-law, Bruce Knack.

Alaina Marie McLean, affectionately known to all as Laina, embarked on her final adventure on April 7, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of laughter and an abundance of cherished memories. Born on a sunny day in Bay City, Michigan, on August 11, 2004, Laina's infectious humor and zest for life became apparent early on and never waned throughout her 20 vibrant years. Ruth M. Taylor, age 92, of Lennon Michigan, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2025. She was born in Flushing Township on October 2, 1932, to the late Martin and Anna (Palovich) Slovak. In August 1958, Ruth married Paul M. Taylor, who predeceased her January 7, 2022. She worked 25 years for AC Spark Plug and helped her husband farm, however, her greatest joy was being a homemaker and caring for her husband Paul and son Michael. She is survived by her son Michael (Kimberly) Taylor.

James Ernest Kostrzewa (Kostrava) was called to heaven on February 22, 2025, at the age of 71.

Born on June 29, 1953 to Ernest ("Bab") and Genevieve Kostrzewa, Jim was the youngest of four brothers, joining siblings Mike, Marty, and Paul. Raised on Sunnyknoll Avenue in Berkley, Michigan, Jim was the first in his family to attend college, earning a B.A. in Advertising and Marketing from Michigan State University in 1978.

Jim lived by the philosophy, “Bloom where you are planted,” and his optimism and gratitude were contagious. He had an innate ability to enjoy life to its fullest and brought joy to everyone around him. He was known for his brilliance, honesty, intellectual depth, artistic creativity, and comedic wit. Courtney passed away on February 4, 2025, at the age of 35, surrounded by her family, after a short illness, at McLaren Bay Region, Bay City, Michigan. She was born on April 11, 1989 to the late Randall P. and Sue (Jankowiak) White in Bay City, Michigan.

Courtney’s guardian was Julie Rusho who took care of all her needs financially and medically for many years. Connie Morse and Mark Christian also assisted with appointments for Courtney.

Courtney and her fiancé Mark Christian moved to Essexville after the death of her mother Sue. They enjoyed the short time they had together. They were planning on a trip to Missouri where Mark was from to meet his family.

Courtney loved watching her soap operas, going to the movies with her friends and loved football. She graduated from the Bay Arenac Living and Learning Center on May 18, 2011.

Peg Forbush completed her work here on earth on January 9th at the age of 83. She was born on April 28, 1941, in St. Louis, Michigan, and grew up on the shores of Lake Ponemah. She fell in love with Marshall Forbush and took on a whole new adventure as a farmer. Peg embraced this new way of life with passion and dedication, working alongide her husband for 47 years. Coming full circle, Peg passed away on the very land upon which she and Marshall started their farm life together, now the location of Henry Ford Health-Genesys.

A woman of profound faith, Peg taught Sunday School at the Byron Methodist Church for 50 years. She was also a 4-H sewing leader, mentor for Mothers of Pre-Schoolers and volunteer at Byron Elementary School. In addition, she was active in FFA PALS, Farm Bureau and FFA Alumni. Dennis Brian Bollman, age 60, of Vassar Michigan, passed away December 31, 2024. He was born in Bay City, Michigan January 27, 1964.

Dennis enjoyed watching football, especially the Detroit Lions, playing the slots on his IPad, going to the casino, traveling, painting miniatures, sketching drawings, watching movies, and reading.

He retired from the Michigan Department of Corrections in 2013 where he was employed as a corrections officer at the Freeland prison. In his early days at MDOC he competed in weight-lifting and Strength Competitions, Dennis also competed in swim in high school.

Dennis enjoyed humor and often used it on his daily life to lighten tense situations.

Karla Surrae Rogers (MacInness), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2024, in Bay City, MI, following a latent battle with stage 4 uterine cancer. Karla graced the world with her presence on September 23, 1954, born in Lansing, MI, to the late Gleason and Surrae MacInness. She grew up alongside her brother, the late James MacInness, and together they shared an idyllic childhood steeped in love and laughter. After she lost her maiden family, she was unofficially adopted by her husband’s parents Charles and Audrey Rogers. They were all waiting at heaven’s gate to greet her.

Ryan, age 58, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2024. He was born in Bay City, Michigan to John L. Smith and Margaret Smith. He is survived by his father, John L. Smith; his mother, Margaret Smith; two daughters, Jaedyn L. Smith and Kensi L. Smith; one sister Sherry (Smith) Warren and her husband Emmitt Warren; a brother, Philip (Wendy) Smith; nephews, Quintin Smith, Trentin Smith; nieces, Kaley Smith and Jennae Warren; and special friends.

Ryan had a love of music and playing musical instruments such as the guitar, bass guitar, and keyboard. Along with playing in various bands during his lifetime, he loved watching sports, and excelled at track and cross country during his high school years.
