✨ Practice Update | Current Services Offered ✨

As I continue to move through a slower, more intentional season in my work, I’m being mindful about the clients I take on and the populations I serve best. This allows me to show up fully, ethically, and with the level of care each client deserves.

At this time, I am accepting new clients in the following areas:

🧠 Therapy Services
• Adolescents ages 13+
• Ages 10–12 considered on a case-by-case basis, primarily for trauma-related work
• Young adults

🧩 Testing
• Limited testing for diagnostic purposes only
• Primarily offered to existing clients
• I am not currently offering neurodivergence testing (ex: ADHD, Autism)

⏰ Availability
My office hours are limited, as my caseload is well-established. This means I may not always have immediate openings, but I’m happy to discuss fit and availability as inquiries come in.

💳 Insurance & Rates
I am in-network with:
• BCBS
• Aetna
• Cigna
• UnitedHealthcare
• Quest Behavioral Health
• Optum
• Oscar
• Oxford

Self-pay rate: $120 per session

Thank you for your continued trust, patience, and understanding as I prioritize intentional, well-matched therapeutic relationships. If you’re unsure whether I might be a good fit, I’m always open to having that conversation or helping guide you toward an appropriate referral. 🤍

Sometimes the bravest thing we do is reach anyway.

Reach for the goal even when anxiety whispers that you’re not good enough.
Even when it tells you that you don’t deserve the thing you want.
Even when depression feels so heavy that imagining change feels exhausting or impossible.

Reach even when the story in your head says it’s too late.
That you’re too old.
That you missed your window.

Those thoughts are powerful — but they are not facts.

In therapy, we talk a lot about control.
We cannot control outcomes.
We cannot guarantee success.
But we can choose our actions.

And here’s the truth:
You will never arrive at the thing you’re dreaming of if you never allow yourself to try.

Trying does not mean forcing.
It does not mean pushing past your limits.
It means taking the next available step — even a small one — with self-compassion.

If you’re reading this and your goal feels scary, far away, or fragile right now:
You’re not behind.
You’re not broken.
And it’s not too late.

Sometimes progress begins the moment we stop waiting to feel ready — and choose to move gently anyway. 💛

✨ Happy New Year, friends. ✨
Today marks my first day back in the office for 2026, and I’m stepping into this year with intention, steadiness, and a deep sense of gratitude for the work I get to do.

I’m returning to practice as usual — which, for me, means seeing a small number of clients each day and continuing to honor intentional self-care in the workplace. Protecting my energy and pace allows me to show up grounded, present, and fully engaged in the therapy room. My hope is always to curate a space that feels safe, supportive, and thoughtful for every client who walks through my door.

Because I’m a one-person practice (and my own admin team!), I don’t always have immediate availability, and there may be times when I’m unable to answer a call or email the same day. If you’re waiting for a response from me, please feel free to follow up via email — I’m spending this week catching up on referrals, inquiries, and messages from the break. Thank you so much for your patience and kindness as I do my best to respond to everyone in a timely and meaningful way. 🤎

For those of you who signed up for Dear Soul, Issue No. 1 is going out today — I’m so excited to share it with you.

Here’s to a new year rooted in healing, gentleness, and growth — for all of us. I’m grateful to walk alongside you.

Vision Boards for Real Life: A Gentle Guide for the Year Ahead

As we close out 2025, this is your reminder that you don’t have to reinvent yourself to grow — you just have to reconnect with what matters to you.

A vision board isn’t about perfection, aesthetics, or “having it all together.” It’s about creating a space where your hopes, values, and intentions can breathe. It can look bold or minimal, cozy or adventurous — there’s no “right” way to dream.

Here are a few grounding tips as you create yours — for everyone, in every season of life:

🌟 Start with how you want to feel — calm, strong, curious, connected, confident, steady. Let your feelings guide the imagery you choose.
🌟 Include the real-life stuff — rest, boundaries, routines, relationships, healing, joy, financial stability, creative play, community.
🌟 Make it yours — vision boards work just as well for guys, gals, and anyone in-between or beyond labels. Your board should reflect your story, not a trend.
🌟 Choose images that whisper, not shout — calming colors, nature textures, meaningful symbols, words that ground rather than overwhelm.
🌟 Keep it compassionate — this isn’t a pressure board or a “fix yourself” project… it’s a companion for your next chapter.

Whether you’re stepping into 2026 with big goals or gentle intentions — I hope your vision board reminds you that growth can be soft, steady, and deeply human.

If you make one, I’d love to see it, feel free to share in the comments! 💫

🌿 2025 Reflection — The Rustic Therapy

This year stretched and shaped me in ways I didn’t fully expect.

In 2025, I full-speed launched my private practice, then quickly stepped away from private practice for almost five months to serve as a clinical supervisor… and then found myself right back where I began the year — in the private practice therapy room. That experience reaffirmed something deeply important to me:

✨ I am able to create the most meaningful impact when I’m working individually, authentically, and aligned with my values — not within systems I don’t fully believe in.

This year, I learned to use my voice more intentionally.

I became more mindful about the clients I take on, ensuring that every therapeutic relationship is grounded in fit, safety, and purpose. And more than ever, I do not take a single moment in the therapy space for granted.

To every client who has trusted me to sit with you in the sacred — and sometimes broken — places of your life… thank you. I often see myself as a conduit for change, not the change itself. The progress, courage, and healing I’ve witnessed this year belongs to you, and I am deeply honored to walk alongside you.

Here’s a glimpse of what this year held (not including the 5-month pause I took March–July):

🌼 17,200 therapy minutes
🌼 287 appointments
🌼 46 clients supported

It has truly been a year, y’all — full of growth, reflection, and renewal.

Cheers to 2026. I can feel so much healing ahead in the coming year, and I am grateful to step into it with intention, compassion, and hope. 🤍

As we step into Christmas week, I want to gently remind everyone that The Rustic Therapy will be closed this week.

I’m wishing each of you a week that feels restful, meaningful, and joyful in whatever way you need it to be. A reminder, too, that self-care doesn’t pause for the holidays — and for some, it may need to increase. Family time can be beautiful, complicated, emotional, or all of the above… and that’s okay.

Move gently. Set boundaries where needed. Be kind to yourself in the process.

I’ll see you on the other side of the holiday 🤍🎄

As we move through cold & flu season, I want to take a moment to sincerely thank you all for the patience, understanding, and grace you continue to show.

Like many, I’m navigating some immune health concerns of my own this season, which means I have been finding myself feeling unwell more often than usual. I’m deeply grateful for the compassion you extend on those days — and for your thoughtfulness in canceling ahead of time when you or someone in your household is under the weather. That care protects not only me, but our entire community. 🤧

I also want to gently remind everyone that self-care isn’t just bubble baths and quiet moments — it’s listening to your body, honoring when it needs rest, and nourishing it with adequate food, hydration, and care. Slowing down when we need to is not weakness; it’s wisdom. 😴

Thank you for continuing to show up with kindness — for yourselves, and for one another.

🤍 Heather

Happy Monday 🤎
The final Monday before Christmas week. ✨

As the holiday countdown picks up, this is your reminder that you don’t have to do Christmas the way anyone else is doing it. There is no prize for overextending yourself or keeping up appearances. This season is allowed to look like what feels right for you.

Lean into what brings comfort and connection—quiet moments, meaningful conversations, simple traditions, or even rest. Look for small glimmers of magic in your day: a warm drink, a deep breath, a laugh, a moment of peace.

And if this season feels heavy—if you’re grieving a loss, navigating something painful, or simply not feeling the “magic”—that’s okay too. You’re not doing it wrong. This may be a time to slow down, be gentle with yourself, and pour inward rather than outward.

For my active clients: if you’d like to schedule a session before the Christmas office closure, please reach out as soon as possible and I’ll do my best to get you on the schedule. I will be closed all of next week.

Wishing you a week guided by intention, softness, and self-trust. 🕯️

Hello, December. 🤎✨
The final month of the year always feels like an exhale — a moment to pause, look back, and really see how far we’ve come.

For so many of us, 2025 has been a year of tremendous growth. And if we’re honest, a lot of that growth didn’t arrive gently. It came through discomfort, stretching, letting go, facing things we didn’t want to look at, and choosing healing even when it felt heavy.

But we made it here. And December invites us to ask some powerful questions:

🤎 What am I taking with me into the new year?
🤎 What have I outgrown, and am ready to release?
🤎 What parts of myself did I discover that I want to nurture more deeply?
🤎 And what patterns, roles, or versions of myself do I want to spend less time living in?

This month isn’t about pressure or perfection — it’s about awareness.
It’s about giving yourself permission to sift through the year with compassion, honoring both your resilience and your humanity.

If this reflection brings things up for you — or if you’re ready to enter the new year more aligned, grounded, and supported — I’m here.
My practice has openings, and it would be an honor to walk with you into whatever comes next.

Monday, we meet again. 🤎
A fresh week, a fresh rhythm.
Take a moment today to breathe, to set your intentions, and to get clear on what you want this week to feel like.

And maybe—just maybe—this is the week you choose to stop carrying everything alone.
If you’re ready to sort through the knots, make sense of what feels heavy, or finally give yourself space to heal… I’m here.

You can reach out anytime through email or my website.
Links are in my bio. 🤎
