Want to hear a little about a really neat local group? It's 100 Women Who Care - Bay County! Every 4 months, they request nominations from their members (those who are willing to donate $100 every 4 months) to the nonprofit receiving the most votes from those nominated. As you can see, we are working our way towards the top as more and more people are becoming aware of who we are and what we do for Bay County residents in need. Want to become a member? Simply go to the 100 Women Who Care - Bay County page and join. By the way, there are already more than 100 people in the group and it continues to grow with people who have a big heart for helping nonprofits do what they do best.

We have our top 3!! We had a LOT of votes and it was very close!! Voting opens for our recipient on 2/20 BUT PLEASE REMEMBER voting will stay open until approximately 6:45 pm on 2/26 at our meeting. We will live stream the presentations so if you can’t make it to the meeting you can watch them and then vote!!

Feeling like summer? Well, it will be here sooner than we think! No better time than the present to get your loved one with special needs signed up for our Summer Special Needs Enrichment Programs. Why attend? A participant last year said, "“I love being
around my peers and doing fun activities.” Parents/caregivers love it as it allows them some much-needed respite time.

These programs are for ages 5-36 with a $425 fee for the 6-week, nearly 100 hour programming. Submission of a completed Pre-Admission Form is the first step. Visit https://dsrcbc.org/camping/ to select the form for your loved ones age group and find out what the plans are. These forms will be emailed out to our current list and are available by emailing a request to us at dsrcbc@gmail.com.

Special thanks go to UA Local 85 for their generosity of inviting us to spend a night with them at the Saginaw Spirit game. We were able to invite many of our volunteers to thank them for what they do for DSRC! If you attended, please add your pics in the comments on this post. P.S. This was Ed's first Saginaw Spirit hockey game and boy did he have a GREAT time! Ed's mom, Kathleen is DSRC's longest serving board member. Thanks to Kathleen and all the volunteers who came out to share in some hockey fun!

Are you looking for something to do in Frankenmuth? How about a visit to the Michigan Heroes Museum? We have a certificate available entitling the holder to admission for 4 people, a $40 value. The certificate expires 3/21/26. Send us a message if you're interested in making a $20+ donation towards the certificate when you pick it up. We hate to see it go unused. ALSO, we hear there are some REALLY COOL (pun intended) ice and snow sculptures you can go see for free while in town. And, based on the current temps, the sculptures will likely be viable for some time to come! The Museum is really awesome to see! Perhaps you could tag someone you know who may be interested? Thanks for your consideration!

Thanks to the Kantzler Foundation for coming to our rescue. We received word that they are granting us the funds to apply the remaining asphalt needed to make our entire area much more user friendly. Currently, the area around our dumpster is rutted (under the snow) and uneven. The addition of asphalt in that area will ensure our volunteers and workers remain safe as that space is frequently utilized and a flat surface will be much more user friendly (and, easier to remove snow when needed). Not to mention during the warmer months, that space is full of weeds which also need to be managed. We look forward to the weather breaking so the asphalt can arrive.

Have you seen our beautifully lighted tree at DSRC this year? Thanks go to the Bay Area Community Foundation through a Community Partnership Grant from the Paul Revard and Frances Santoro Family Fund. We are excited to report that the lights will stay illuminated probably through March for your viewing enjoyment! We hope it reminds you that we are shining the lights to acknowledge those in our community with disabilities - whether permanent or temporary. Thankful for those who continue to help us help others!

We are so grateful to Bay Area Community Foundation for their support of us and those we serve. Grants have been received through their Community Initiative Fund and the Nathalie Awrey Fund for two of our projects in 2026. Specifically, funds will respectively go towards concrete which will hold a jib crane at DSRC to enable us to move heavy items like power chairs, ramp sections, etc. and also for our Summer Special Needs Enrichment Programs happening for six weeks beginning in June. Pre-Admission materials will be available in early February.
