If your office needs BLS CPR, I highly recommend John Cobb and CEMSCPR! John did our training again last night at Crossroads Volunteer Fire Dept, and as previous sessions, it was great. There are a couple of things that have changed in the AHA standards, but the one constant hasn’t, high quality CPR saves lives! John has all the tools and brings them to use, including AED simulators. He is on Facebook, check them out for all your medical training needs.

After fielding a couple of questions about a One-Time Compliance report for the Amalgam Separator, I reached out to the Controlling Authority for Alabama. It was thought to be the EPA, but as I found out it is ADEM. I emailed Mr. Ramsey some questions about enforcement, and the compliance report. Below is the response and a link to the Alabama One-Time Compliance Report. If you have questions, give me a call , send me an email or text, I will be glad to help.

The Department has not determined how and when the dental offices will get inspected. It could be if we see high levels of metals in a POTW’s discharge that we check the dental offices in the area to determine compliance with the rule. It could be that the local POTW will be checking on the dental offices to determine compliance with the rule. This is a new rule for us and we are trying to implement our program as we go. The dental office is expected to comply with the rule and set its own Best Management Practices; whether that be checking the filter daily or weekly or a different frequency. The goal is to eliminate Mercury from being discharged into the local POTW and potentially causing water quality exceedances. I have attached a link to the Department’s Compliance Report below.
