Caregiving is not just a job. It is sacred ground.

It is walking into a family’s hardest chapter and choosing to stand there with them. It is holding hands in hospital rooms that smell like antiseptic and hope. It is learning someone’s favorite hymn, how they take their coffee, and which stories they tell when they are tired but still trying.

Care is not only medications and schedules.
It is eye contact.
It is patience when the same question is asked five times.
It is dignity when someone feels like they are losing pieces of themselves.

Families let us into their world during vulnerable moments. They trust us with their mother’s laugh, their father’s stubborn streak, their spouse’s quiet fears. That kind of trust is not taken lightly. It is answered with gentleness, skill, and compassion that does not clock out.

To serve in caregiving is to witness love in its truest form. Children becoming caretakers. Spouses becoming nurses. Grandchildren learning strength they did not know they had.

Today I went to check on a sweet little patient who said she’d gained weight from all them king cakes. Before I could even nod in sympathy, her husband of 65 years hollers,
“I saw them damn grandkids foolin’ with the scale this weekend. I’ll fix it.”

Y’all… I wanted to laugh, cry, and hug that man all at once. That’s love, loyalty, and a full-time defense attorney rolled into one.

I love my job and the beautiful families God lets me cross paths with every single day. And listen… if I don’t have somebody blaming the grandkids and adjusting the scale for me after 65 years, I don’t want it. 💚💜💚💜
