Listening to your body — when it doesn’t feel like a safe or familiar place — can feel nearly impossible for neurodivergent humans.
Especially when paired with hypermobility.
Your sense of where your body is in space (proprioception) may differ from the majority.
And interoception — your ability to sense internal states — might feel heightened or confusing, making it harder to decode what you actually feel… or what you actually need.
To process emotion, we have to embody the feeling —
which means allowing it to spread through the body and be witnessed through sensation.
That’s why in Slowmatics™️, we begin by incorporating sensory input and diaphragmatic awareness —
So your nervous system can first feel safe to express through subtle movement.
And just as importantly, safe to express emotion.
Because when your body knows it’s safe,
you become more resilient in how you move through emotional intensity — both on the mat and in real life.
This is why we layer in neurological preparation before full-body movement —
To create a container a nonjudgmental space inside your own body.
To ground you into your physical form.
To offer a deeper emotional connection as your body begins to open.
