What are varicose veins?
Varicose veins are swollen, enlarged veins — blue or dark purple in color — that are lumpy, bulging, or twisted in appearance. They almost always appear on the legs and feet.
Why do they develop?
Inside every healthy vein, there are tiny valves that open and close to keep blood flowing toward the heart. When these valves weaken or become damaged — blood flows backward and pools inside the vein — causing it to swell and enlarge.

The 3 main types:

Every vertebra in your spine is connected to the next by two small joints — one on the right side and one on the left. When these joints become arthritic or inflamed, they can be a major source of debilitating low back pain.

⚠️ Why isn't MRI enough?
An MRI may show arthritis in the facet joints — but that does not automatically mean the arthritis is what's causing your pain. The only way to truly confirm the source is through a diagnostic nerve block.
