Our kiddos thrive in routine! Whether it be a bedtime routine, a bath time routing, a morning routine, etc.

Repetition of the steps of a task helps their little developing brains recognize patterns and anticipate the next step and the familiarity helps them to cognitively prepare for performing the task independently in the future.

Aren’t our babies brilliant!

Verbal routines are so important for the early development of language skills because it is teaching the brain through repetition the sequence of words and phrases, the very important skill of mimicking or “parroting” words, sounds, and phrases, and leads to more and more success in producing the verbal sounds that make up our everyday words!

Every kiddo is different of course! Some start speaking at seemingly impossibly young ages, and others may start a little later than others. Neither of these are “bad!” If there seems to be any sort of delay in the forming of sounds or the timing in which your child starts speaking, ask their pediatrician if maybe speech therapy would be a good fit for your kiddo. We are always accepting new referrals!

Early Intervention... What is it and why is it important? 🤔
Early intervention provides therapeutic, developmental, and educational services for children from birth to age 3 with developmental delays or disabilities. This includes speech and occupational therapies to support child development and improve lifelong outcomes.
Rather than just treating the child, early intervention coaches parents and caregivers on how to incorporate therapeutic strategies into daily routines.
If you've noticed your child hasn't met usual milestones or exibits any other concerning behaviors or lack thereof, talk to your child's pediatrician to see if early intervention may be right for your family.

Occupational Therapy feeding therapy helps children overcome challenges with eating, drinking, and swallowing by addressing sensory, motor, and behavioral issues, using playful, structured activities to build skills for successful mealtimes, and improve nutrition. OTs focus on the whole child and environment, teaching skills like utensil use, food acceptance, and proper feeding positioning.

If your kiddo shows signs of difficulties around mealtimes, ask your child's primary physician if feeding therapy may be helpful for your family and come see us for an evaluation!
