Ms. Eskridge, a speech therapist in Alabama, wanted to help her vision- and hearing-impaired students build their language skills through hands-on learning about bugs. She requested a microscope so that students could see bugs from a new perspective, in addition to indoor and outdoor habitats that will allow her students to see and discuss how insects live. The game “Bugs in the Kitchen” will serve as a reward for her students — and a way to increase their receptive and expressive language skills.
