St Mary’s was thrilled to partner with Passy Muir and host a live seminar which provided clinical information regarding tracheostomy. This included the physiologic impact of tracheostomy on a patient’s respiratory, speech, and swallowing functions. The clinicians learned step-by-step strategies to assess for the use of a no-leak speaking Valve to restore communication, improve swallowing, improve secretion management, and restore subglottic pressure in adults and children. The attendees had a great time getting hands-on training, discussing case studies and completing mock assessments. Thanks to all who attended! 💙

Thank you to Dunkin' Joy In Childhood Foundation and the New York Mets for providing our locomotor training program patients and families with an amazing day at the Mets v. Rangers game this past Sunday. Our team and families were able to enjoy fun in the sun thanks to accessible seating options and plenty of delicious snacks. Did you know all 30 major league baseball stadiums were renovated after the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was passed? This act promoted the inclusive design of stadium seating, entrances, restrooms, and parking lots, allowing for adults and children of all abilities to enjoy baseball. We are grateful to have had the opportunity to provide an inclusive experience for our patients and families who work incredibly hard every day. 💙
