Hull House Real Recovery

Hull House Real Recovery Hull House Real Recovery provides a safe environment just like home for women recovering from eating We graciously accept monetary donations as well in-kind.

Hull House Recovery Residences provides homes for people completing intensive treatment for eating and substance use disorders who need additional support and guidance for 6- 12 months before they can fly on their own. Accountability-
Our first Hull House Recovery Residences is a home in a lovely Akron neighborhood. The home is staffed with a 24-hour peer house manager who oversees all daily activ

ities of the 4-5 residents. Using the peer support/recovery model, Hull House Recovery Residences will assist residents in developing skills that promote recovery, self-sufficiency and independence, including: meal support, grocery shopping, meal preparation, dining experiences in the house and in restaurants, volunteering, work and school. The house manager offers accountability and support to each resident individually and as a group. Our residents are required to participate in therapy and nutrition services, AA, NA, EDA and other recovery programs. Residents will follow a mutually agreed upon treatment contract that includes random drug and alcohol testing, meal logging, weekly house meetings and daily check-ins with the house manager. When residents stumble, the house manager and other residents will pick them up and encourage them to get back on track. Connection-
Hull House Recovery Residences offers residents a 24-hour sober environment with others who share their struggles and their desire for recovery. Being able to connect daily with others who appreciate the unique challenges of Eating Disorder and Substance Use Disorder recovery is critical to making lasting changes in behaviors, thoughts and feelings. Love-
Hull House Recovery Residences provides a loving home-like setting where residents bond and support each other. Love comes in many forms and the house manager and other staff provide it in ways that many residents have never experienced. The home offers a safe place for women to heal and find their authentic selves. Located in Akron Ohio, our first Recovery Residence for both eating and substance use disorders, will accommodate 4-5 women, ages 18-30, offering peer support and house management 24 hours/day, 7 days/week. The home is in a welcome neighborhood near many amenities in the community and has:
● Brick ranch style
● Spacious shared and single bedrooms
● Lots of bathrooms and closet space
● Lovely large kitchen
● Homey, relaxing living room
● Gorgeous backyard

Why We Need Your Support? Our first residence still requires many updates before the Grand Opening in November 2020. With your support, Hull House Recovery Residences will be able to complete the final touches. We still need to acquire new and gently worn furniture, home furnishings, new appliances, all kitchen items, beddings, linens and wall hangings...

"Have an escape plan. Sometimes attending family gatherings over the holidays can feel overwhelming. I like to go into gatherings having a set time I am going to leave and how I am going to leave. Sometimes that means driving separately and having an excuse to go home ("I have to feed/walk my pet" "I need to get up early" etc.). It's a healthy boundary to know your own limits and leave a gathering when the time is right for you. " - An HHRR Peer Supporter

Let’s talk peer support.

What exactly is it? Peer support refers to the support and mentorship that people recovered from an eating disorder and/or addiction may lend to others who are currently in recovery. Through shared experiences, knowledge and understanding, peer supporters walk beside those who are navigating their recovery journey. Peer Supporters share stories of their own lived experiences with an eating disorder/addiction while mentoring, guiding and simply listening to those who often feel no one understands them.
