Health Quiz Time! 🩺💉

When it comes to receiving IV antibiotics, location matters more than you might think. We have a question for our community today:

What is a primary safety advantage of an infusion center regarding anaphylactic reactions compared to home infusion?

A. Emergency services can respond to homes faster than staff can react in a center.

B. Infusion centers have immediate access to reversal agents and physician oversight.

C. Anaphylaxis is statistically impossible in a home setting.

D. Home infusion nurses carry more advanced life support equipment than centers.

👇 I’ll post the correct answer and the "why" in the first comment!

Benefits of receiving IV antibiotics at an infusion center: safety, emergency readiness, Medicare Part B savings. Beachwood, Cleveland, Northeast Ohio.

✅ Never complains about her pain

Her school says: "Since her grades are great, she doesn't need any special plan."

🎯 QUIZ TIME: Which plan is most appropriate to protect Sarah's access to education?

A. Informal agreement with the teacher
B. A Section 504 Plan ✅
C. Homebound instruction
D. An Individualized Education Program (IEP)

💡 THINK ABOUT IT:
Does Sarah need a change in WHAT she's learning (instruction)?
Or does she need support to GET to the learning (access)?

The Dual-Action Bone Builder
Most common osteoporosis medications—like Reclast or Prolia—are "antiresorptive." This means they act like a shield, protecting your bones by slowing down the cells that break them down. 🛡️

But Evenity (Romosozumab) is changing the game with a unique "dual effect."

Unlike traditional treatments, Evenity is a sclerostin inhibitor that works in two ways at once:

1- Building New Bone: It stimulates "osteoblasts" to actively create new, stronger bone tissue. 🏗️

2- Stopping Bone Loss: It simultaneously reduces bone breakdown.

This makes it a powerful option for those at high risk of fracture who need to build up their bone density quickly.

Have questions about osteoporosis treatment options? Contact our infusion team to learn more about whether Evenity or other therapies might be right for you. https://carepointinfusion.com/osteoporosis/

Is your child carrying an "invisible backpack" to school every day? 🎒🩺

For K-12 students living with autoimmune diseases or chronic illnesses requiring recurrent infusions, the classroom can be just as challenging as the clinic. They might look "fine," but "brain fog," chronic pain, and the "infusion hangover" are real obstacles to their success.

At Carepoint Infusion, we believe your child should thrive, not just survive, in school. We’ve put together a comprehensive guide on School Accommodations: What Parents Need to Know.

In this report, you’ll learn:
✅ The difference between a 504 Plan (Access) and an IEP (Instruction).
✅ Why the "Infusion Cycle" makes flexible attendance a necessity.
✅ 7 high-impact accommodations to ask for (including the "Stop the Clock" rule for testing!).
✅ A 4-step roadmap to securing the rights your child deserves.

Your child’s health journey doesn't stop at our doors. Let’s make sure their school is part of the support team. 🤝

Living with Crohn's Disease: 4 Things Everyone Should Know 💜

Crohn's isn't just about diet—it's a complex autoimmune journey that requires smart, proactive care, here's what matters most:

1. Aim for More Than Symptom Relief 🎯
Modern biologics and targeted therapies can prevent long-term complications like strictures and surgery. Ask your doctor about deep remission as your goal.

2. Build Your Flare Survival Kit 🧰
When inflammation strikes, your body needs support:

Rest without guilt — Your body is fighting hard; energy conservation matters
Stay hydrated — Diarrhea drains fluids fast; prioritize water and electrolytes
Ease up on fiber — During flares, skip raw veggies and seeds; choose well-cooked foods and lean proteins instead

3. Protect Your Mental Health Too 🧠
The gut-brain connection is real. Chronic illness takes an emotional toll.

Find your people—connect with others who truly understand
Speak up about treatments that aren't working
Remember: You're the expert on YOUR body

4. Travel Smart ✈️
Don't let Crohn's clip your wings:

Pack a go-bag (extra supplies, wipes, change of clothes)
Download a "Can't Wait" restroom access card
Keep digital copies of prescriptions and doctor contacts

The Truth: "You don't look sick" doesn't mean you're not fighting a real battle inside. Crohn's is an invisible autoimmune condition—and your experience is valid. 💜

Myth vs. Fact: Living with Entyvio 🛑

There is a lot of information online about biologics—let’s look at the facts regarding Entyvio:

❌ MYTH: Entyvio will make me sick all the time. ✅ FACT: Because Entyvio is gut-selective, it does not suppress your entire immune system, resulting in a lower risk of systemic infections compared to other biologics.

❌ MYTH: I'll be stuck in the clinic all day. ✅ FACT: Entyvio is one of our fastest infusions, typically taking only 30 minutes to administer.

❌ MYTH: I can’t travel if I’m on an infusion. ✅ FACT: With a little planning, you can maintain a normal life! We can help you coordinate "guest infusions" if you're traveling within the U.S.

Financial Stress? Our team is dedicated to navigating insurance authorizations and connecting eligible patients with manufacturer co-pay programs like EntyvioConnect, which can reduce costs to as little as $5 per dose.

Infusion Day: Your "Pro-Tips" Checklist
Feeling a little nervous about your first visit? Don't be. Here is how to prep like a pro for a comfortable session:

- Hydrate Early: Drink plenty of fluids in the 48 hours leading up to your visit. It increases your blood volume, making it much easier for your nurse to locate a vein.

- Eat Normally: Unlike surgery, fasting is NOT required. A light meal helps maintain your blood sugar and prevents lightheadedness from needle sticks.

- Layer Up: Wear your favorite cozy sweater and bring headphones or a good book.

- The "Biologic Blues": It’s common to feel a little tired or have a mild headache for 24 hours afterward. Take it easy and keep hydrating!.

Did You Know? Most patients can drive themselves home and return to work the same day.

Stop Navigating the Maze.
We’ve all been there: The massive hospital parking garage, the confusing elevators, the endless "Level 4, Wing B" signs, and—finally—the crowded waiting room.

At CarePoint Infusion, we believe your treatment day should be the least stressful part of your week. When you choose us, your experience is different:

- Door-to-Chair in Minutes: Park right outside our front door. No parking decks, no shuttles, and no long hallways.

- Respect for Your Time: Your appointment time is your appointment time. We pride ourselves on a "zero-wait" culture because we know your day is valuable.

- Concierge-Level Comfort:: Trade the cold, clinical feel for a plush leather recliner, high-speed Wi-Fi, and a quiet, sunlit environment designed for relaxation.

- Consistent Faces: You aren't just a number in a system. You’ll be greeted by the same friendly clinical team every time you walk through our doors.

"No long hospital hallways, no waiting hours past my appointment time. Just great care in a relaxing environment." — That isn't just a goal; it's our standard.

Ready for a better infusion experience?
Let us handle the transition. We’ll coordinate with your specialist and manage your insurance so you can just show up and relax.
