Good work guys

Lakewood EMS members Matthew Perez and Michael Colwell happened to be in the right place at the right time to save a one-year-old’s life in Lakewood.

On Saturday afternoon, at approximately 5:05 PM, the pair was driving down New Hampshire Avenue when someone in a vehicle in front of them flagged them down, screaming that their child was choking inside the vehicle.

Perez, who has served as an EMT in Ocean County for the last four years, and Colwell who has been been an EMT since December 2016, immediately pulled over and began taking life-saving actions.

They performed several sets of measured back blows, and within a few moments, their efforts were successful and the baby began breathing once again.

The pair managed to stabilize the child, who was then transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune for further treatment, before being released.

RIP Officer French and a speedy recovery to her partner. Our prayers are with your families and Chicago PD.

The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office stands with the Chicago Police Department as they mourn the loss of Officer Ella French who was killed in the line of duty on August 7, 2021. Officer French and her partner were conducting a traffic stop when the occupants of the vehicle opened fire killing Officer French and critically wounded her partner. Officer French had been with Chicago PD since 2018. Her partner is hospitalized and is fighting for his life. Please keep these two heroes and their family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.

Happy Hispanic Heritage Month! To celebrate, we honor Jorge Otero-Barreto, a.k.a "the Puerto Rican Rambo," and U.S Army Veteran. His accomplishments are astounding. He volunteered for 5 tours in Vietnam, and engaged in over 350 combat and aerial missions. With over 40 military honors including multiple Silver Stars and Purple Hearts, Otero-Barreto has been called the most decorated U.S. soldier of the Vietnam War. Not only was he an honorable warrior but is now a community leader, Veteran advocate and loving father, grandfather, and husband. Thank you for your service!
