Founded in 2016 by Charmaine Allen, BlackHairandSkinCare has come a long way from its humble beginnings in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. When Charmaine first st

arted out, her passion for helping others regain their confidence came from her own experience dealing with hair loss. Being diagnosed with Central Centrifugal Cicatricial Alopecia (CCCA) in her teenage years, Charmaine began to notice her hair thinning and experienced itching and pain. She was able to see a dermatologist but was prescribed shots, sprays, and shampoos that addressed the current symptoms but never remedied or tackled the cause. Charmaine started with the idea of creating a space where men/women of color could come together and talk about hair and skincare issues in 2007 when she began conducting forums and posting YouTube videos. While she began searching for products that offered a natural solution to her struggles, the lack of results drove her to create a product that not only addresses scalp/hair health but does so in a way that completely bypasses toxins and harsh chemicals. Having tried what seemed like every product that promised results, Charmaine began to look into creating her own product that would not only address the symptoms but also would tackle the cause and allow her to take back her crown! BlackHairandSkinCare now serves customers all over the world, and we are thrilled to be a part of the natural hair care wing of the haircare industry.
