The concept of "dharma" in Eastern philosophy, particularly in Hinduism and Buddhism, refers to the moral law or duty that governs an individual's actions. It encompasses righteousness, moral law, and ethical behavior according to one's role in society and the universe.
In contrast, the idea of choice or free will in the Bible emphasizes the ability to make decisions and choose between good and evil. The Bible frequently associates free will with moral responsibility, illustrating that individuals are accountable for their choices and actions, especially regarding their relationship with God.
While dharma emphasizes fulfilling one's duty according to moral principles and cosmic order, biblical free will underscores the personal capacity to choose one's path, reflecting individual moral responsibility.
Both concepts highlight the importance of ethical behavior, but they arise from different cultural and philosophical backgrounds. Dharmic choices often relate to societal roles, while biblical choices focus more on individual freedom and accountability to God.
