With April being Sexual Assault Awareness Month, it is important to realize there is no timeline for processing instances of s*xual assault.

Talking about abuse is not always easy, and not all survivors are ready to tell their story!

When someone does, even if it happened 30 years ago, believe them and give them your attention, ears and shoulders, not your experiences, opinions, or advice.

Support them from the moment they tell you, because you may be the only person they trust with this part of their life.

Abuse is not just physical! Most types of abuse do not leave red marks, bruises, and cannot be seen!

Abuse can also be emotional, mental, spiritual, reproductive, financial, s*xual, stalking and harassment, coercive control, and others!

It can look like tracking their location without permission, forcing them to have s*x (even in a relationship), forcing them to act out your fantasies when they are not comfortable, excessively texting, controlling where they go and who they go with, calling them crazy, purposely not paying child support, not following court ordered visitation, telling your children they are just like the other parent in negative ways, and so much more!

We are here to help you see through societal and environmental norms to help you become a non-violent version of yourself! Make the choice to change your thought process and begin to make those changes! Our BIPP team is here to assist you!

Do you know the signs of child abuse? Do you know how to handle a situation when a child discloses they are being abused? When a child makes an outcry of abuse, the response they receive can shape their healing β€” believe them, stay calm, and remind them it’s not their fault. πŸ’™πŸ’™

Children always deserve to be protected!

Communities have the responsibility to listen, believe, and act when a child needs help.

Protection you can provide could be:
β€’ speaking up when you see or suspect something isn’t right
β€’ teaching children about safe boundaries
β€’ creating spaces where they feel heard, valued, and believed
β€’ supporting families and prevention efforts

Every child deserves safety. Every voice matters. πŸ’™

We love to connect with the communities we serve!
Spreading awareness and education is priority for our Community Relations team every week, but here are a few things they were out in the community doing this week!

Crime Victims' Rights Week is April 19th - 25th! This week the Beaumont City Council provided space for the Coalition for Victims of Violent Crimes to share the proclamation that we "Listen. Act. Advocate." for all victims of violent crimes!
