โWhen did you last have your cholesterol checked?
This is a great time to do so: just last month, the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association released their first updated cholesterol management guidelines since 2018, reflecting the latest advances in cardiovascular risk assessment and treatment.
An estimated 1 in 4 U.S. adults has high LDL cholesterol, a major risk factor for heart attack and stroke, but it is one of the most manageable risk factors when caught early.
A few things to keep in mind:
๐ฉบ High cholesterol often has no symptoms, so the only way to know your numbers is to get tested
๐ฅฆ A heart-healthy diet centered on fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and healthy proteins can meaningfully reduce your cardiovascular risk
๐ถ Regular movement and healthy habits remain among the most powerful tools for protecting your heart
If it's been a while since you've had your levels checked, consider scheduling a visit with your cardiologist. Your future self will thank you.
