Meet Mrs. Y. Pearl Jessie — a veteran, visionary, and vessel of healing. From serving our nation to restoring lives through counseling, she is a true champion for mental wellness and community.
Mrs. Y. Pearl Jessie is a Beaumont native and graduate of West Brook Senior High School c/o 1984. Upon graduating, Mrs. Jessie enlisted into the US Army where she remained until 1992. During this time, Mrs. Jessie participated in Operation Desert Storm/Shield. Following her military career, Mrs. Jessie worked at Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) where she was hired for the opening of the Mark Stiles Unit. Mrs. Jessie remained at TDCJ from 1992 – 1998 when she began working for the Michael E. DeBakey Veteran’s Affairs Hospital. (MEDVAMC).
Mrs. Jessie relocated to Beaumont in 2009 and facilitated the opening of the Jefferson County Vet Center where she remained until 2014. In 2013 Mrs. Jessie opened Pearl’s of Wisdom Counselling Service, PLLC, Puppies and Pearl’s in 2020 and a 2nd Pearl’s of Wisdom Counseling Service in Baytown, Texas in August of 2023.
Mrs. Jessie is the 9th of 9 children between her parents and obtained an Associates of Arts (AA) from Houston Community College (2003), a Bachelor of Science (BS) from University of Houston-Downtown (2005) and a Master’s in Counselor Education (M.Ed) from Texas Southern University (2007). Mrs. Jessie obtained her License Professional Counselor (LPC) from the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors in 2011. Mrs. Jessie is married to her high school sweetheart and is the proud mother of one daughter who is a UCLA graduate in California.
