In Loving Memory of
Mrs. Lois V. PittsWhite
April 2, 1935 – January 19, 2026
Obituary
Mrs. Lois V. PittsWhite, age 90, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2026, in Columbus, Ohio. Lois had returned to Columbus in August 2025 to visit her beloved family, grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren when she suddenly became ill. She was surrounded by the love of her devoted family when she transitioned.

Lois was born on April 2, 1935, to the late Mr. James Veney and Mrs. Ruby MentionVeney. She grew up in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, where she graduated from Beaver Falls High School. She later attended Geneva College, where she earned her Master’s Degree in Education.

A lifelong educator and advocate for children, Lois began her teaching career with the Head Start Program alongside her dear sister, June. Her dedication to helping children learn and thrive left
an enduring impact on the countless lives she touched.

In 1961, Lois and her family moved to California to join her aunt, Roberta WebbWilliams, opening new chapters of opportunity and service. Lois’s professional and creative journey included singing background vocals for worldrenowned artists such as Sammy Davis Jr., James Brown, and LaMonte McLemore of The 5th Dimension. She also participated in a pilot with Bill Cosby and worked for Governor Brown of California.

Lois was deeply committed to justice and equality, taking an active role in the Civil Rights Movement. She also volunteered extensively in hospitals, bringing comfort and joy to children and families in need.

Her Faith
Lois’s foundation was her unwavering faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Raised in Tabernacle Baptist Church, she began playing piano there at the age of eight and later sang in the church choir alongside her family. Her faith guided her every step and inspired those around her.

She shared her love for Jesus with her children and grandchildren, always encouraging them to live with faith, love, and compassion. Her favorite scripture reminds us of her trust in the Lord: Psalm 23:1
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.”

Her Family
Lois was a devoted wife to Mr. Ronald White, with whom she later made her home in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

She is lovingly remembered by her children: Vonceia Hester and Mr. Perry Pitts

Grandchildren: Garrett Pitts and Tarig Young

Greatgrandchildren: Nacari MartinYoung, Jayce Young, Mila Young, Ashari Young, and Sinai Young

Stepgrandchildren: Five additional beloved grandchildren

Siblings: Mr. Richard Veney, June Wallace, and Freda Crawford

She also leaves behind cherished relatives including Anna and Jean, Willie George Mention, Lonzy Mention, and Poogy Mention, along with many nieces and nephews — Joy Clinckscale, Jimmy Wallace Jr., Jason Wallace, Eugene Crawford, Eric Webb, Douglas Webb, Marcel Webb-Willams, Tanya Mention, Casey Jacobs, Dreava Renee, Ricky Lisa and Ericka.
Her love for family was unconditional — she poured her heart into each and every one of them.

Her Legacy
Lois’s life was one of service, compassion, and music. She was a retired teacher, a talented musician, and a woman of faith who used every gift God gave her to uplift others. She was always smiling, always encouraging, always reminding those around her that there is “no place like home.”

To know Lois was to know kindness, joy, and spiritual strength. She taught her loved ones to depend on faith, to celebrate life, and to hold fast to love.

A Message of Love
Our beloved Lois would want us to Celebrate — to live joyfully, love deeply, and walk with Christ in all we do.

Let us honor her memory with peace, love, and faith. We are Family — and we will always remain Family. “Let’s Celebrate Her Life.”
Peace and Love to you all. God bless you.

Vincent Edward Walker formerly known as “Eddie Woo” died unexpectedly on January 30th 2026 at the age of 62.

He was the son of Eddie “Sonny” Taylor and AJ Walker. The baby son of Lois A. Walker (Murdock).

Eddie truly loved his family especially his babies (all his little nieces and nephews). He was an active member of Soma Church and loved attending all the activities of the church; especially Friday fellowship. To know Eddie, you would know he was one of the kindest people, he would give his last to help someone. He truly lived life on his own terms, which means he was really stubborn. There was never a dull moment when it came to Eddie. He would have you laughing at just about anything. Eddie was a die-hard Dallas cowboy fan (Imagine that at family gatherings). Wear your Dallas Cowboy gear to his homegoing; theme colors: blue, gray and white.

He was preceded in death by all three of his parents Louis Walker, AJ Walker and Sonny Taylor. His wife Vicki Walker, brother Jeffrey Murdock, Son Jason Lavelle, Mother of his children Veronica “Jeannine” Brown and his nephews William “Tye”” Walker, Christopher “Critter” Brandyburg. Also, special uncles Jimmy and Big Carl.

He is survived by his children Desinee “Alkeeve” White-Brown, Jacob Jessemen, Heaven Walker, Lee Lavelle, DeRohn Brown and Holden Raines Jr and DeEster Raines. His grandchildren Aubreyona, Jozcelyn and Enoch Brown; Siblings Alvin “Gwen” Walker, Belle Walker, Bernice Walker, Tony Walker, Michelle Walker, Charlene Michelle Taylor and Ernest Dwayne “Wayne” Taylor; Seven loving sisters in Florida from his father AJ Walker; Host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Brotherhood: Carliss and Sean Jeter, Duba Lee, Robert Barron, Robert Cleckly, Mr. Claiborne Raw. Sisterhood: Pamela Gibbs-Townsend; The Raines’ Gang and all the grandkids he picked up over the years.

We, the Family, would like to thank everyone for everything you have done in these difficult times; For just loving him and supporting him over the years. If we missed anyone please accept our sincere apologies. Many people loved Eddie and all of you are in our hearts.

Join us tomorrow at 11 a.m. for Bertha Washington's service.

Bertha May Hunter Washington, 89, daughter of Charles and Mary Hunter of Beaver Falls, PA, passed away at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio on September 18th, 2023. Bertha
was born on September 2, 1934, in Beaver Falls, PA.

She poured her love, life, and everything into caring for her family. Her light was bright enough to fill the darkest times with warmth and the feeling of home. Our Mother had no conditions or limits to her love. Mom, Mommy, Mum, Nana to some, Mrs. Washington to others, but a guardian Angel to all. As the matriarch to our family, our mother set the standard for what it means to be a Washington, a Mali, and a Hunter. Some of you may feel like she set that same standard in your homes too; Horton, Anderson, Helisek, and I’m sure many others come to mind. We were
taught that family is not limited to those you share a name with; that real family lies in the bonds you form with friends, neighbors, brothers, sisters, and cousins. We were taught how to
truly and selflessly care for and about others. Through her vision of Family, we define who we are and whom we belong to.

Our mother is no longer here. However, she is asking us to look beyond the snow caps, beyond the redwoods, beyond, the oceans, and beyond the stars. If you do, you will hear her call. yes,
her call. Her call will make you focus, make you persevere, make you joyful, make you love, and yes, make you have the audacity to reach her. I am certain she can hear your call. Why, because
she has raised us all and knows all our voices. Her call will be tender, her call will be sweet, it will be stern, and at times faint but it will be our mother’s call.

She is preceded in death by her husband: Charles M. Washington, Pete Mali, father: Charles Hunter, mother: Mary Hunter, sister: Jeanee Hunter, brother: Donald Hunter, nephew: Jackie
Lee Hunter (Head). Brother-in-laws: Skip, Chick, Deb, Daniel, Bob, and Clarence. Sister-in-laws:Mildred, Sue, Lillie, Margaret, and Maxine. Nieces and nephews: Lester, Lawrence, Gineen,
Miranda, Bernie Washington and Nephew Jackie Lee Hunter Jr.

Bertha is survived by her sons: Peter (Kathy) Mali, Charles (Melissa) Washington, Rocky (Sheree) Washington, Ivan (Lisa) Washington, and Georgie Mali. daughters: Linda Sherwood, Cheryl
(William) McClendon, Regina Washington, Drenda (Honey) (Darrell) Banks, Linda (Doll) Mali, Quantia Mali, and Gina Mali. Bertha has many grandchildren, great and great-great
grandchildren, and numerous nieces, and nephews. Blessed was her life and Blessed is her legacy.

Our Family would like to express our gratitude and love for the overwhelming support we have received during this trying time. Every Prayer, every phone call, every visit, every word of
encouragement has reminded us of the immense love everyone held for our Mother. We are sincerely grateful.
