Although the early signs vary, common early symptoms of dementia include:
✔️Memory problems, particularly remembering recent events.
✔️Increasing confusion.
✔️Reduce concentration.
✔️Personality or behavioral changes.
✔️Apathy and withdrawal or depression.
✔️Loss of ability to do every day tasks.

Reminiscing therapy is a treatment that uses all the senses— sight, touch, taste, smell and sound—to help individuals with dementia remember events, people and places from their past lives.

Let’s look beyond this disease as a barrier to how we care for our loved one and introduce Reminisce Therapy to our loved ones who are living with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Yesterday I had the pleasure of providing training and education to the staff of The Carlyle House. The focus was on Ways of Treating and Caring for individuals living with Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. We discussed the difference between Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, as well as its signs and symptoms, the various types of Dementia and staging those types, fall prevention, environmental modifications/personal adaptations, proper body mechanics, communication techniques, memory care engagement and resources available for elders and caregivers. It was a great learning experience for our audience.

&Advocacy would like to thank the staff and Executive Director for this opportunity. We are looking forward to providing more education next week!
