Make note of our adjusted Holiday hours, it is hard to believe the end of the year is upon us!
Don't forget to use your eye care benefits by the end of the year. Call our office to schedule your appointment.
This time of year dry eye becomes an issue for many. Unfortunately, masks can also contribute to drying out your eyes if air is leaking from the mask and going up to your eyes. Another thing we may be doing more frequently these days is looking at our digital devices more.
Try using over-the-counter artificial tears and take frequent breaks when looking at digital screens. Every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds.
Regarding masks, some people benefit from taping their mask across the top of the nose to prevent air leakage.
I think we can all agree that we can not wait to say GOODBYE to 2020!
But do not forget to use your eye care #benefits for 2020. Call our office to schedule your next appointment before we book up through the end of the year.
Save money, utilize your benefits and get your #annualeyeexam.
We are thankful for all of our patients, employees and colleagues this Thanksgiving day.
This holiday season may look a little different but we have so much to be #thankful for!
Thank you for supporting our small business through the trials of this year. We are grateful for your loyalty and wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving! 🧡 🦃
Yesterday was the Great American Smoke Out. Not only is smoking harmful to your lungs, it is also bad for your eyes 👀
Studies show smoking increases the risk of age-related macular degeneration, cataracts, glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy as well as dry eye syndrome.
Keratoconus is a progressive eye disease in which the normally round cornea thins and begins to bulge into a cone-like shape, causing distorted and blurred vision. Glare and light sensitivity also may occur.
Genetics can play a part in the cause. If you would like to discuss this with one of our optometrists please do so at your next appointment.
Diabetes Awareness Month‼️: anyone with diabetes is at risk for vision loss or blindness from diabetic eye disease.
Diabetic eye disease has no warning signs. However, early detection and timely treatment can help reduce the risks. A good place to start is to obtain an annual, comprehensive dilated eye examination as it is one of the best ways to detect early signs of diabetic eye disease.
How to Avoid Eye Injuries During Halloween 🎃
- Avoid Costumes That Block Vision
- Use Make-Up Safely
- Don't Allow Sharp Objects to Be Used as Props
- Follow Guidelines for Wearing Decorative Contact Lenses
- Carry a Flashlight
- Make Sure Costumes Are Reflective
Reminder: We asking all of our patients when you come to our office for your next eye exam, please come alone unless physical assistance is needed. And please continue to wear your mask in our office at all times.
Thank you! #covidprecautions😷
You won't pass our eye exams that easily...even if you come into the office looking like Frankenstein.
Every year, colored Halloween contact lenses have become more popular and more widespread. They are a seemingly easy way to drastically alter your appearance and enhance a costume.
However, risk for this particular costume accessory is high. Contact lenses are classified as medical devices and it is illegal to sell them to someone without a prescription. Even the lenses that do not have a prescription in them need to be fitted to you according to the size of your cornea. Cheap, over-the-counter contact lenses are not regulated by the FDA and you may be setting yourself up for a host of potential problems by using them.
Can you see this message without glasses/contacts?
1 billion others can’t either.

Visit your eye care provider yearly or as often as he or she recommends.
Remove your contact lenses immediately and call your eye care provider if you have eye pain, discomfort, redness, or blurred vision.
Clean and replace that grimy case - clean your contact lens case by rubbing and rinsing it with contact lens solution, never water and then empty and dry with a clean tissue.
Replace your contact lens case at least once every three months and most importantly, replace your lenses as your optometrist recommends.
Sleeping in contacts increases your risk of eye infection up to 8 times!
Please don't do it!

Contact lenses and water do NOT mix. Taking a shower with #contactlenses is convenient, but it puts you at risk of developing a serious eye infection.
Contact lenses are like sponges. When exposed to water, contact lenses will absorb water particles and swell. Shower water can contain a variety of chemical, environmental and bacterial irritants. Any one of these irritants could cause an eye infection if they come into contact with the delicate surface of your eye.
Hot, steamy showers can make contact lenses dry out and shrink. This sometimes causes the lens to adhere to the surface of the eye. Even though this is painful, it’s important not to remove the lens until you’ve hydrated your eye. Lubricate your eye using saline eye drops, and try to blink the lens loose. Still, a stuck lens can scratch the cornea, which makes it easier for germs to get into the eye and cause infection.
