The church can misunderstand Imago Dei. And when it does, people suffer. John Kilner's work provides clarification, clarifying what Imago Dei actually is.

Retreats wouldn't happen without teams of joyful and hardworking volunteers. As a parent who attended a retreat said, “We didn’t know anyone there when we had arrived, but when we were leaving we felt like we had made some really great friends and family in Christ. There were countless moments of kindness and love that we experienced from so many of the volunteers and staff of Guidelight and we are so thankful to each one of the people that let Jesus shine through them to us. We will never forget our time there and the positive experiences throughout the week. Guidelight is living up to it’s name and we praise God for being able to go with our family to be refreshed in every way, especially toward Jesus, the Light of the World!”

“Guidelight is made up of, and for, people who “get it” when it comes to disability. The people who understand what we’re going through in raising our son, those people were sitting beside us. Staff members and the church volunteers simply wanted to listen, help and love. We shared about the challenges of everyday life. We talked about special times of hope and encouragement. This openness, this time to meet and share, is so desperately needed for families experiencing disability.”

Much of Jesus' time and energy went to those who were on the margins of society.

Did you know Retreats give parents a date night? Every couple needs some time to connect without interruption, but childcare can be harder to find for parents with children experiencing disability. At each Retreat, children are given a night of fun by trained volutneers so that parents can focus on stepping away and nurturing their marriage.

Retreats are about respite for parents, but not about babysitting. The care provided to children and the time spent with teens is relational investment, where both volunteers and children/teens are mutually encouraged by time together.

As a result, parents have unique opportunities to have time off caregiving: uninterrupted time to connect with other parents on similar paths, forging more mutual relationships.

Who We Are

We pursue Christ-centered transformation in the lives of those impacted by disability. Our vision is to utilize our programs to fulfill our Mission through proclaiming biblical truth and providing needed Resources.

We envision the transformation of the lives of people impacted by disability through the Body of Christ engaging the disabled population worldwide with the gospel of Jesus Christ while providing needed physical and developmental resources.

Through the advancement of TEF North America and Global programs we create services for both the Church and the families and individuals we serve. These resources will broaden the awareness of the cause of the disabled nationally and globally. Out of this awareness we pray that we will be used to mobilize people to be on mission to serve the disabled populations of the world.

The Elisha Foundation seeks to engage, equip, and empower the Body of Christ to proclaim the gospel to those impacted by disability.
