Mars in Aquarius, Sun-Pluto Conjunction Jan 23, 2026
As Mars drifts into the sign of Aquarius, on the same day the Sun and Pluto conduct their annual conjunction at 03°25’ Aquarius. This all takes place on Jan 23, 2026.

The parade of planets, including the Sun in Aquarius continues throughout this week and next week. This early part of the parade includes Pluto. In astrology, we call this a stellium. Pluto's influence creates opportunities to go deep, inquiring about our fears and working with them in such a way as to ultimately have a healthy integration.

During this Sun-Pluto conjunction in Aquarius, what lies underneath is important to concern one's self about. Pluto is a pyrocathartic agent and in Aquarius, we may see the shadow of idealisms, freedom, technological aspirations plus where empathy, compassion and lack of a moral compass show themselves.

Because we have Venus, Mercury and Mars also very close by, this is a powerful underworld bubble that will take weeks to break apart.

Mars enters Aquarius on the 23rd, encouraging the desire to liberate humanity from the chains of a decaying structure and system. Mars wants to take action, pushing the leading edge beyond what is known.

Mars helps out the archetypal sign of Aquarius to get into its physical expression and to push forward with the concept of “idea into action”. It is in honoring the quest to fulfill its mission to shift the world on its axis with breakthroughs and expansion of humanity’s collective consciousness.

Another major phase at the end of January begins on Jan 26, when Neptune re-enters the sign of Aries.

Pluto alert! Multiple conjunctions with Pluto
After Venus conjuncted Pluto on the 20th, Mercury will conjunct Pluto on the 22nd at 03° 23’ Aquarius, followed by the Sun on Jan 23rd and Mars on the 27th. The most potent one will be with Mars.

The upcoming Mercury-Pluto conjunction will activate Pluto's "underworld" energies for humanity in the sign of Aquarius. The difference with Mercury and the other planets in conjunction with the Pluto is that it brings focus to the mental and communication areas of life.

Pluto symbolizes the shamanic underworld, organic transformative forces, pyrocathartic expressions, death/rebirth, surrender with bias and uncovering the secrets and treasures buried within the collective and our personal lives.

In the sign of Aquarius, it shows the extreme shadow of technological innovations, ideologies, objective reality, universal love and spiritual-consciousness expansions. It can also bring up collective apocalyptic disturbances, nightmares of the future and collapses of power.

The echoes of the first age of industrialization and the use of power/electricity is pushing through this current era. New use of power and energy will be a powerful backdrop of the Pluto in Aquarius era.

Pluto is just getting going in the sign of Aquarius as it will remain in this sign until 2044.

Mercury conjunct the Sun Jan 21, 2026
The fast planet Mercury will be conjunct the Sun on Jan 21, 2026 at 01° 36’ Aquarius.

This conjunction between Mercury and the Sun is the center of the Mercury synodic cycle that begins and ends with Mercury stationing direct, which is usually about 4 months long.

This conjunction follows the previous Venus and Mars conjunctions with the Sun between Jan 6-9 in Capircorn and the Venus-Mars conjunction very close to the Sun as well back on Jan 7.

We've experienced massive volitility earlier this month with all of the inner, rocky planets grouped together with the Sun. That is still ongoing and won't let up anytime soon, especially with Pluto now involved.

At this conjunction in Aquarius, it is a time of inward exploration and innovative thinking to support the mental health and communication efforts. It is super-important to think things through in an attempt to avoid outbursts but also to not forget the heart, nor to detach from our hearts.

Mercury is on its way to Pisces on Feb 6, then station retrograde on Feb 25. The day after Mecury conjuncts the Sun, Mercury will conjunct Pluto (Jan 22).

Mercury enters Aquarius Jan 20, 2026
The Messenger planet Mercury enters the astrological sign of Aquarius on Jan 20, 2026. This is the 3rd celestial body to enter Aquarius in the last few days, following Venus and the Sun. Mars will enter Aquarius on Jan 23.

In the sign of Aquarius, Mercury is all about what is free. The mind of Aquarius perceives its worldview as free spirits and individuals utilizing their gifts to live their fullest potential without limits.

It is a strongly cerebral mental energy expression with a highly objective perspective. It tends toward seeing where things may breakthrough from the trappings of material boundaries/limits and psychically freeing themselves beyond what is known.

Jan 21 - Mercury conj Sun at 01° 36’ Aquarius
Jan 22 - Mercury conj Pluto at 03° 23’ Aquarius
Jan 24 – Mercury conj Vesta at 06° 43’ Aquarius
Jan 29 – Mercury conj Venus at 14° 57’ Aquarius

This is another delicate period coming up through the end of the month due to Mars and Pluto's involvement in the early degrees of Aquarius. So it is best to have greater awareness for what is around you. But also check in with one's ego because there is still powerful transformational force taking place for humanity in the accumulation of wealth and power.

Sun in Aquarius Jan 19, 2026
The Sun moves into the seasonal sign of Aquarius on Jan 19, 2026. This sign is overlayed by the constellation of the Goat-Fish constellation and only partially by the Water-Bearer (astronomical Aquarius) constellation.

Joining Venus, it begins to build the upcoming large stellium in Aquarius in late January. The Sun adds fuel to the fires of innovation, science, equality, freedom of spirit and objectivity within our lives.

We can work with this Sun in Aquarius by experimenting with ideas, practicing our relationship with freedom and being more objective in our daily lives.

This has also been shining a light in recent weeks into the shadow and making it come out into the light itself. Much of this is due to Mars, Venus and Mercury being hidden in the glare of the Sun, hence the underworld. Most things will tend to be revealed in the coming weeks, but we have already seen this dark energy emerge for the whole world to witness.

Aquarius itself tends to be a light-polarized archetypal force but in its shadow can lack empathy, compassion and be completely detached from the passions around them. At extreme levels, it can deny there is even a shadow.

The Sun will stay in Aquarius until Feb 18th, the day after a solar eclipse.

New Moon on Jan 18, 2026
Our next New Moon takes place on Jan 18, 2025, 11:51 am PST 28°43’ Capricorn. This is happening in the transitions of the other 3 planets (Venus, Mercury and Mars) crossing into the sign of Aquarius.

This New Moon won't be an easy one as it is part of a highly dynamic set of aspects involving the Sun, Mars, Venus and also Mercury. All of those planets (except the Sun) are in the underworld energy due to being hidden from our eyes because of the glare of the Sun.

In the sign of Capricorn, this New Moon symbolizes an opportunity for inner growth and planning without attachment. Even though Capricorn is great for creating expectations for the long-term, the New Moon is joined by 3 underworld-phase planets and so it could contribute to breaking apart and decaying any plans we may create.

However, we can plan in a deeper, more creative way that includes fluidity within. Some of this New Moon requires a level of trust within. It is important to try not to push anything or force anything to happen at this time. It's best to go with the flow of how things are unfolding around and within us.

The New Moon, along with Mercury and Mars are squaring Chrion and Eris, amping up the intent to not only go within but uncover the deeper truths that may be buried there. Over the coming weeks and months, it will be time to share our truth and live that truth.

Venus in Aquarius on January 17, 2026
Tomorrow, Jan 17, 2026, the second planet from the Sun will be in the astrological sign of Aquarius. This is the first of 4 planets (including the Sun) moving into the sign of Aquarius, where they will join and conjunct Pluto.

Venus in Aquarius taps into the archetype of the ethereal wizard-Athena wisdom-type that brings a future-oriented nature of the feminine to humanity.

It is in perceiving an objective outlook to where we are in the current age along with expanding humanity’s consciousness. How can we see ourselves without the emotional attachments? That in itself would present and incredible opportunity for all people to experience.

Just 2 days later, Venus will conjunct Pluto on January 19 at 03°19’ Aquarius. This is a day of reflective insight into the shadow of progress, technological development, excess objectivity and solely light-polarization.

Venus, Mercury and Mars are all still in the shamanic underworld due to their close proximity with the Sun. This means there is still some very intense and reactive forces being expressed throughout January and much of February too. A great way to work with this underworld energy is to do deep dives or meditations within one's self and take more deep breaths. Things will be on edge and could boil over.

Jan 11, 2026 - Eris Stations Direct
The dwarf planet Eris, orbiting beyond Pluto, is stationing direct on Jan 11, 2026 at 24°37’ Aries. It's been moving through the sign of Aries about 1/4 of a degree each year.

Eris’ influence in the sign of Aries has been entrenched since the transition period of 1922-1926. The planetary body will remain in the sign of Aries until it goes through the next transition period from 2044-48, then fully enters the sign of Ta**us.

In 2025, it was strongly in relationship with Chiron and humanity’s wounds. There were 2 conjunctions between Chiron and Eris. Eris brings a strong willful voice and intelligence to the table with Chiron. It shows up where wrongs need to be righted and the deeper truth needs to be heard. Typically, it is through drama and some chaos that Eris is showing up. But it is not chaos for its own sake. It is about making sure “good trouble” starts, especially through the feminine.

The last of the series of 3 conjunctions take place on March 19, 2026 at 24°59’ Aries in a very loaded month with lots of Aries energy due to the astrological conjunction of Saturn and Neptune in Aries with other planets in the sign as well.

Jan 9 - Sun-Mars Conjunction in Capricorn
The last of the 3 conjunctions take place when we experience a Sun-Mars conjunction at 19°12’ Capricorn on January 9, 2026.

Like the recent Venus-Sun conjunction, this Sun-Mars conjunction represents the center of the Mars synodic cycle and Underworld phase. Shamanically, this is a death-rebirth process through surrender and humility. This is a time of letting go and letting the Universe guide us through the stages beyond.

In the sign of Capricorn, this Phase 3 (underworld) of the Mars cycle allows the breakdown of the what once was and as it no longer serves the greater whole. The seeding of the fertile ground is taking place, containing the knowledge and wisdom of generations of recent times and of long ago.

The Sun is now between the Earth and Mars. Mars remains hidden through this period and the processes of surrender and rebirth are sacred, a special place (with Venus too) renew the life seed and the duality in the potential of a healthier expression.

Mars will continue to be hidden on the other side of the Sun until March 16, 2026, when it will emerge in early morning of the eastern sky in the sign of Pisces.

Venus-Mars Conjunction Jan 7, 2026
Venus and Mars conjunct Jan 7, 2026 at 18°09’ Capricorn. This is the first conjunction between the 2 planets since Feb 21, 2024 when they conjuncted in the sign of Aquarius in the early morning sky.

This conjunction on Jan 7 will not be visible as the planets are currently orbiting on the other side of the Sun and in the glare of the Sun's rays. In this expression, the Sun can play the role of Source. Mars and Venus are both in a strong transformational state while also being guided/held by Great Spirit.

While each of the 2 planets are in the "underworld" phase of their respective synodic cycles, they are also in a overlaying dance called a "saga" that weaves the story of the masculine (Mars) and feminine (Venus) in various expressions. In the sky, Venus and Mars are in saga that emphasizes the deep inner work on their shadow and relationship with power.

The 2 planets are also being be assisted by Great Spirit as it holds space for the needed vulnerability to undergo transformation and rebirthing. The underworld itself, shamanically-speaking, is where we go (through surrender) deep within to face our deepest, raw fears in order to clean up and integrate those fears and recognize our shadow so that we can bring it into a more whole state. Ultimately, it can free us.

Within ourselves, we can work with this conjunction by meditating upon what we want to seed for the future. But it is reommended that this seeding contain the necessary nutrients for help us integrate the shadow within so we can build a structure that is truly sustainable, honoring the wisdom and knowledge that will serve our communities and the Earth.
