Homes aren’t the only place that children can access unsecured guns. With alarming regularity, kids access and discharge guns that have been stored under a car seat, in an unlocked glove box or center console, or in a car door compartment.

Everytown's "Preventable Tragedies” report found that, in an analysis of over 2,800 unintentional child shootings, nearly one in every three unintentional shooters were children five and under. These incidents are preventable. Fi****ms should be stored unloaded and secured with effective, child-resistant gun locks in a locked container out of the reach and sight of children.

Safe Kids Worldwide is a proud partner of Everytown for Gun Safety's Be SMART program to educate families and communities about the vital importance of the safe storage of fi****ms.
