With temperatures expected to reach triple digits this weekend, the City of Beaverton has cooling centers available for anyone looking to escape the heat.
Beaverton City Library Main (12375 SW 5th Street) and Murray Scholls Branch (11200 SW Murray Scholls Place, Suite 102) are open to the public during normal hours.
In addition, an after-hours cooling center at Beaverton City Library Main, with extended lobby hours, will be open from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22 through Sunday, Aug. 24 for those looking for a place to cool down.
Cooling centers are available free of charge.
Community members are invited to come and cool off, charge devices, use the WiFi, and get a drink of water.
Restrooms are also available.
Cooling centers will be monitored throughout the weekend and may be extended should conditions persist.
The Beaverton City Park Fountain is another place for families to cool off on hot summer days. The fountain is open daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. from May through October.
