Maddie Adams Yoga

Maddie Adams Yoga I offer nourishing yoga in group class settings and one to one yoga therapy sessions to support health and healing at every level of being.

I specialize in support for women's health as well as low back pain, anxiety, and depression. Yoga therapy is a holistic process that draws on the ancient tools and teachings of yoga to affect healing. I couple these ancient teachings with a modern understanding of anatomy, physiology, neuroscience, and trauma science. Yoga therapy sees each of our dimensions as interconnected, and seeks to bring

healing to every level of the individual through personalized practices and support. I consider it a great honor to support my clients on their journey, and my ultimate goal is always for my clients to outgrow a need for my help and to feel empowered as the premier authority on their own bodies and wellbeing.

It takes A LOT to be a new parent. Caring for a baby while also healing from pregnancy can be intensely exhausting and stressful.

Mama baby yoga combines mindful breath with gentle rhythmic movements to support the re-integration of the pelvic floor, core, and hips, while also providing time for deep, healing rest. Hope you can join me!

I cannot speak highly enough for these transformational practices! After 17 years of practicing many different styles of yoga, THIS STUFF IS MY FAVORITE. Did you know February is Women’s Heart Health Month? I will be posted up at Providence Basecamp on this Friday, Feb 3, from 2:10-3:50 as part of their Women’s Wellness Workshop on National Wear Red day. Wear red and come check it out! As a new mom, your postpartum body has been through a TREMENDOUS transformation at every level. An IMMENSE amount of energy is needed to recover and heal from pregnancy and birth, and an immense amount is going to your baby as well. Mama Baby Yoga uses gentle rhythmic movements with breath to help re-knit the abdominal wall, recover pelvic floor strength and even tone, and support an overall “refill” of your vital energy at every level, so you can heal AND care for your baby with more kindness, equanimity, and ease. No yoga experience necessary. DM me with any questions. Sign up link is in my bio! ☺️

Some of the many faces of my resting time with Yoga Nidra. Motherhood is HARD WORK. After running myself into the ground as a stressed out new mom, I learned the hard way that I MUST REST to be a continued resource for my family and myself. Now I make a daily effort to rest and replenish my resources, to fill my bucket so I can continue to nurture my family, my community, myself, and other new moms (and all exhausted people).

The postpartum time is an intense phase of transition for new parents, and new moms especially. Oftentimes women don’t have the tribal support to navigate this challenging time that we would have had in generations past, and instead, we are left caring for babies AND trying to recover from the MONUMENTAL challenge of pregnancy and birth at the physical, energetic, mental and emotional level.

Having moved through my own transition into motherhood with some moments of grace, compassion, gratitude, and help, and many other moments of loneliness, fatigue, rage, and anxiety, it is my deepest honor to be offering Mama Baby Yoga in addition to my other regular weekly classes.

Mama Baby Yoga is offered in the spirit of support, connection, and community every Monday at the Sage Center for Wholeness and Health in Beaverton. Bring your baby and take time to replenish your inner reserves, reconnect and re-knit your body, AND have fun connecting and bonding with your own tiny human miracle. Link in my bio to sign up!

Just received these beautiful Yantras from and feeling especially grateful/awed/humbled by the presence of these now posted up in my bedroom.

These yantras represent all 10 Mahavidyas, or wisdom goddesses. They are a visual representation of the various ways that the various energies of the deep feminine as the power of life Herself manifest in us as we journey through this existence.

From top left to bottom right they are:
Kali, Tara, Sodasi, Bhuvanesvari, Kamalatmika, Matangi, Chinnamasta, Bagalamuki, Bhairavi, and Dhumavati.

I explore various ways to connect with and honor these powerful energies in my Well Woman yoga class every Saturday, and they accompany us through Mama Baby yoga as well.

If you want a more specific breakdown of these symbols, I highly recommend Uma’s book, Yoni Shakti (Source Power) as a detailed exploration of all 10 Mahavidyas and the ways they support our unfolding cyclical wisdom through every stage of life.

Our Story

Yoga therapy is a holistic approach that uses poses, breathing techniques, and mindfulness practices tailored to an individual's needs to help integrate the mind and body into a better state of health and wellbeing. I draw from many different styles of yoga and traditions in my practice, including elements of buddhist philosophy and ayurveda, which I consider to be yoga's sister sciences. Many people come to the practice of yoga for better physical health and wellbeing, but yoga has so much more to offer than physical fitness! Ancient yogis used meditation, breathing, and a variety of other practices to move themselves toward states of awakening, clarity, compassion, and joy. I bring these ancient techniques into the modern world and my yoga therapy practice includes strategies for dealing with mental as well as physical challenges. People suffering from depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, and many other ongoing conditions can find relief in the tools and teachings of yoga and ayurveda. It is my honor to bring these tools to my clients and help them fulfill their fullest potential as humans on the planet.
