Have you considered switching to a rotating toothbrush? Electric toothbrushes have been found to perform a superior reduction in plaque and food debris. This is due to both the rotating brush head and the 2 minute timed feature that many of them have. Patients who follow the guidelines of brushing each quadrant with an electric rotating brush for thirty seconds will see a dramatic improvement in their oral health.

Using good brushing habits and techniques can help the cause and prevent gum disease. As well as brushing, we recommend flossing at least once a day to remove harder to reach foods and particles. This allows your mouth to be thoroughly cleaned and prevent gum inflammation due to bacteria.

Brushing and flossing regularly removes debris and particles that bacteria feed off of to grow and destroy the healthy cells in your mouth. Brushing helps remove plaque from hardening into tarter. Plaque and tartar buildup can lead to gingivitis and puts you at risk of getting periodontal disease. It is important that you are brushing and flossing regularly and visiting our office for your semi-annual cleanings.
