PNW Reign Women’s Wheelchair Basketball

Without the women before us, women’s wheelchair basketball wouldn’t be as big as it is today. On this international women’s day the ladies had their last practice before national championships. Th etc pushed hard in anticipation of the altitude change and they look forward to seeing who they will face off against in the beginning of April!

We have a busy Saturday, come on out to the Boys and Girls Club of South Puget Sound (3875 S 66th St #101, Tacoma, WA 98409) for some Saturday fun.

The adult wheelchair basketball team will practice 9-11 AM

The junior and varsity wheelchair basketball teams will practice 11 AM - 1 PM

We are going to host the Reign wheelchair basketball team practice from 1-3 PM.

What a weekend of learning, communication, and some good competition in women’s wheelchair basketball.

The PNW Reign traveled to Phoenix, Arizona to compete in the women’s showcase at Ability360 Sports & Fitness Center

With their first two games as tough losses against Mary Free Bed and Arizona Storm, the ladies looked to day two to change the pace.

The dynamic of the team in their second game against Mary Free Bed changed and although they lost 37-13, they played like a different team with more communication, better defense, and overall a renewed drive.

Their game against the Phoenix Mercury was a win, at 34-18.

Overall the team left Arizona with a 1-3 record on the tournament but they have a new focus with national championships ahead of them.

After a tough loss of 35 to 13 against Mary free bed this morning the ladies are resting up in preparation for the game against Phoenix. Overall, the dynamic of this game was different from yesterday morning’s game, but our shots were just not falling into the hoop.

Today may not have ended exactly as the team would have liked, but it was a day with lots of good lessons and tomorrow will give us two more chances to get wins!

This weekend the Reign head to Phoenix for the women’s division tournament against hosts Phoenix Mercury, Arizona Storm and Mary Free Bed.

The ladies will have two games Saturday (Mary Free Bed at 9am Saturday, Arizona Storm at 12pm on Saturday) and two on Sunday (Mary Free Bed at 8am on Sunday and Phoenix Mercury at 11am on Sunday).

Today is national women and girls in sports day- We want to thank those before us who believed in the equity of play and a big thanks also goes out to Adaptive Sports NW and Seattle Adaptive Sports for providing us the opportunity to have a regional team for women and girls all over the PNW.

After a long day of travel the team is home and resting.

They came out with a third place finish going 2-2 and winning against the last sharks yesterday 37-24.

Special thanks to Lakeshore Foundation and their awesome staff. We love coming to this tournament and look forward to next January!

The Reign won their game this morning against the BlazeSports Lady Ballers! With a 35-24 score, the found redemption from last year’s losses (a close loss followed by an OT loss at this same tournament in 2025).

Not only that but our win came on our very own #23’s birthday - Happy Birthday Evita!!

Game two finished up with some good plays. Although another overall loss on the day with a score of 43-25, the ladies had a good push mid-game to get within 5 points of the Lakeshore Storm ladies.
