2026 Nationals Recap:

What a weekend! With a hard fought game that showed the heart of all of our ladies, the PNW Reign finished nationals ranked #10.

Friday started off a bit rocky with a 49-36 loss against the Virginia Vortex. The ladies shook off all the cobwebs to come back for a 36-31 win against the Adaptive Sports Ohio Cavaliers that evening.

Saturday started off with a 44-17 win against familiar faces from Parasport Spokane. A very close and exciting overtime win against the Cleveland Rockers ended the night - 32-29 and a renewed vigor - the ladies were ready to rematch with the Virginia Vortex on Sunday morning.

That rematch was closely fought with a 2 point loss but overall staying close throughout the whole game. The ladies came out and were fighting hard - a few heartbreaking misses and aggressive play kept the teams within 1-3 points of each other towards the end. Ultimately free throws after fouls gave Virginia the lead, and ultimately the win.

The ladies had an amazing weekend overall and enjoyed playing against Paralympians and hall of fame players.

We want to thank everyone who has supported us this season and continues to help us further women’s wheelchair basketball in the northwest and beyond. Without your support this tournament would have been much more difficult to attend.

Photos show a variety of the action from the weekend, a team photo with the big basketball, and our littlest biggest fan, Audrey, ready to cheer on the team.

What a weekend of learning, communication, and some good competition in women’s wheelchair basketball.

The PNW Reign traveled to Phoenix, Arizona to compete in the women’s showcase at Ability360 Sports & Fitness Center

With their first two games as tough losses against Mary Free Bed and Arizona Storm, the ladies looked to day two to change the pace.

The dynamic of the team in their second game against Mary Free Bed changed and although they lost 37-13, they played like a different team with more communication, better defense, and overall a renewed drive.

Their game against the Phoenix Mercury was a win, at 34-18.

Overall the team left Arizona with a 1-3 record on the tournament but they have a new focus with national championships ahead of them.

Photos below show the team in action during the women’s showcase tournament along with a team photo with the ladies who traveled to Arizona. From left to right in the team photo are #44 Sarina Sawhney, #11 Jenn Waggoner, #33 Amy Thomsen, Athletic Trainer Amber, Team Assistant William, #22 Jami Tribby, #15 Alyssa Higgins, and #1 Talea Leslie.

After a tough loss of 35 to 13 against Mary free bed this morning the ladies are resting up in preparation for the game against Phoenix. Overall, the dynamic of this game was different from yesterday morning’s game, but our shots were just not falling into the hoop.
