Home Matters Caregiving

Home Matters Caregiving We are a comprehensive home caregiving agency offering care ranging from companionship to nursing.

We are a comprehensive home caregiving agency offering services ranging from companionship and light housekeeping to medically complex caregiving and nursing needs. Home Matters Caregiving was founded in 2007 by Christina Foutch, OTR, who envisioned a higher level of home care with greater clinical expertise and support for seniors. Partnering with her husband, Clay Foutch, they’ve built a clinica

l team of Registered Nurse’s, Healthcare Professionals, and an Administrator who all support their caregivers in order to fulfill the company’s mission. It’s a hands-on approach that has earned Home Matters Caregiving the reputation as a top senior care provider in the greater Portland area.

📅 Today is National Home Care Advocacy Day — and at Home Matters, we're raising our voices in Washington, DC for the people who care for older adults where they want to be: at home.

Here's what we're advocating for — the three things that, together, make great care possible:

📋 Well-trained caregivers. Home care is skilled work. Better training means safer transfers, sharper observation, and more confident caregivers who stay in the field longer — which means more consistency for the families who depend on them.

🏦 Tax credits for family caregivers. Millions of families are quietly carrying the weight of caring for a loved one, often while working full-time jobs. Tax relief isn't a handout — it's a recognition that this work has real costs, and keeping people at home saves our entire healthcare system money.

💻 Smart use of technology. The right tools — from care coordination platforms to AI that helps us match the right caregiver to the right client — don't replace the human touch. They protect it, by freeing our teams to do what matters most: show up, listen, and care.

❤️ If you've ever had a loved one cared for at home, you already know the difference this work makes. Today we're asking lawmakers, partners, and our community to stand with the caregivers and families making it possible.

Not every visit to an office includes an office visit. Not every visit is going to be about operations, business development, or financials. Some visits are just about being with your friend and working from home together.

From a long way away, our family at Home Matters wants to thank the senior living community in the greater Stamford market for doing what we do when one of ours needs us.

One of the great joys of serving aging adults since 2007 is seeing how the brand of care we started in Beaverton Oregon is being carried out in another market. I spent time this week in Clemson with Tim, Gracie, Maria and Michelle. When I walked into the office I was able to feel a familiar culture and over the next couple of days I got to watch us share our brand of care in the field and then start care with new clients that are counting on us. Four assessments that created an energy around scheduling, logistics and communications!

It felt like I was at Home.

Thank you team Clemson!

🌷 Happy Easter from the Home Matters family!

🏡 This season is a beautiful reminder of renewal, hope, and the people who matter most. To our caregivers showing up with heart every single day, and to the families who trust us with their loved ones — we're grateful for you.

❤️ Wishing everyone a peaceful, joy-filled Easter surrounded by the ones you love.

💊 As adults age, medications often become a central part of daily life. Blood pressure pills, diabetes medications, heart prescriptions, pain relievers, and supplements can quickly add up. While these treatments are essential, they also introduce risk. Medication management for seniors is one of the most overlooked yet critical components of safe aging at home.

🚑 Even small mistakes, such as skipping doses or mixing incompatible prescriptions, can lead to serious health complications. Families often assume their loved one is managing medications correctly until a hospitalization or health scare reveals otherwise. With the right systems and oversight, many of these dangerous mistakes can be prevented.

📋 There comes a point when reminders are no longer enough. If a senior repeatedly forgets medications, misreads labels, or resists taking prescriptions, more consistent oversight may be needed.

❗Warning signs that additional support is necessary include:
-Frequent missed doses
-Emergency room visits related to medication errors
-Inability to explain medication purpose
-Confusion about timing or dosage
-Visible decline after prescription changes

🏡 Introducing in-home care early often prevents crises. Medication management for seniors is far more effective when addressed proactively.

Home Matters University is about running the play. For months we’ve talked about what it takes to find new clients, recruit, train, and retain professional caregivers, and serve our communities with excellence and compliance. Now it’s time to stand shoulder to shoulder with the team in Beaverton and put it all into action.

That means visiting partners like PACE and the VA, spending time with our clients and caregiving team members in community-based living settings like Courtyard at Mt. Tabor, Watermark at the Pearl, and Cogir of Tigard. It means laughing a lot, learning even more, and ending each day breaking bread together.

I couldn’t be more proud or excited about the care that aging adults in Redondo Beach—led by Timothy—and on the Orange Coast—led by Hans and Aurora—are about to have access to. They may not know it yet, but they’ve been waiting for you.

Beaverton’s Committee on Aging represents the very best of what community means—a dedicated group of volunteers learning from, advocating for, and giving back to the older adults who live among us.

This weekend, we spent time celebrating the past year and sharing great conversations about the work ahead as we look toward 2026.

I’m honored that Beaverton’s Committee on Aging asked me to continue serving as Chair for another year. During the meeting, we also had the opportunity to host Jenn Fifer from PACE, who shared how their program is supporting some of the Portland metro area’s most vulnerable residents. Grateful for the chance to keep working alongside such dedicated advocates for older adults.

✨ What a great time attending the Whiskey, Wine & Wheelchairs event hosted by A Caring Closet!

♿ This special evening brought our community together around a powerful mission, providing free durable medical equipment to neighbors who need it most. From wheelchairs and walkers to shower chairs and hospital beds, A Caring Closet ensures that no one has to go without the equipment that helps them live safely and independently.

🏡 The event was the perfect blend of fun and purpose, great conversations, generous hearts, and a shared commitment to serving seniors and individuals with mobility challenges right here in our community.

🤝 We are so grateful to support organizations like A Caring Closet who make such a tangible difference every single day. When community partners come together, lives are changed.

❤️ Cheers to whiskey, wine, wheelchairs, and a whole lot of heart.

💙 National Caregivers Day

✨ Today, we celebrate the caregivers who show up every day with compassion, patience, and heart.

🤝 Caregivers do more than assist with daily tasks—they provide comfort, dignity, companionship, and reassurance to those who need it most. Their work often happens quietly, but its impact is powerful and life-changing.

🏡 At Home Matters, we are deeply grateful for our caregivers who go above and beyond to support seniors and families with professionalism and genuine care. Your dedication does not go unnoticed, and today—and every day—we thank you.

💐 To all caregivers: you make a difference.

💝 What a beautiful day for Visits & Valentines! 💝

Last week, we had the privilege of bringing smiles, companionship, and handmade valentines to seniors at West Hills Health & Rehabilitation, PACE Cully, and Beaverton Post Acute. Seeing the joy on their faces reminded us why we do this work—because no one should feel alone, especially on a day meant for celebrating love and connection.

This event wouldn't have been possible without our incredible partners:

🙏 1st Choice Advisory – Thank you for not only sponsoring our gift bags but for rolling up your sleeves and spending Valentine's Day with us. Your generosity and time made all the difference.

❤️ Our amazing Home Matters Caregiving team – Your dedication to making this day special was truly inspiring. Thank you for giving your time and hearts to our seniors.

🎨 Hiteon Elementary students – The handmade valentines you created brought so much joy! Each card was a work of art that brightened someone's day in ways you may never fully know.

🏥 West Hills Health & Rehabilitation, PACE Cully, and Beaverton Post Acute – Thank you for welcoming us and for the wonderful work you do caring for our seniors every single day.

To every senior we visited: thank you for welcoming us with open arms and sharing your stories. You made our Valentine's Day just as special.

Until next year! 💕
