💙 Early Detection Saves Lives 💙

A Low-Dose CT Scan can detect lung cancer in its earliest, most treatable stages — often before symptoms appear. Catching lung cancer early greatly improves treatment options, recovery outcomes, and quality of life.

• Ages 50–77

🧠 Stroke Support & Brain Health 🧠
On Thursday, Stroke Coordinator Courtney Jackson and Regional Community Development Manager Kelly Elkins were honored to join the Raleigh County Commission on Aging for the monthly Stroke Support Group. Courtney shared an educational presentation focused on exercising your brain and ways to support cognitive health after a stroke. Keeping the brain active is just as important as physical movement during recovery. Here are a few simple brain exercises that can help post-stroke patients:
✅ Try puzzles or word games
✅ Read daily—even if just a few minutes
✅ Practice memory activities (such as recalling your grocery list)
✅ Learn a new hobby or craft
✅ Stay socially connected and engaged
✅ Take short walks or participate in gentle movement to increase blood flow to the brain
Every small step supports recovery and strengthens brain function. 💪🧩 We are grateful for everyone who attended and for the continued partnership with the Raleigh County Commission on Aging. ❤️

Beckley ARH would like to extend a huge thank you to Active Southern West Virginia Community Captain Barbie Dobbins, Dr. Alnajjar, and all the wonderful participants who joined us for Wednesday's Full Moon Walk and Talk with a Doc along the beautiful Beckley Rails to Trails. It was a great evening of movement, conversation, and connection — all under the glow of the full moon!

🩺 Health Fair at Crosspoint Church ARH was proud to participate in the Health Fair hosted by the Bluefield State College Nursing students at Crosspoint Church! 💙
Our Stroke Coordinator, Courtney Jackson, and Regional Community Development Manager, Kelly Elkins, were on-site performing stroke screenings and sharing valuable education on stroke awareness and prevention. A big thank you to the Bluefield State College Nursing program for inviting us to be part of this wonderful community event focused on health and wellness! 🙌
