With the help of our Nursing and Therapy team, Mrs. Jackson gets to go home tomorrow! It was a pleasure having her around, and we will miss her dearly, but we are SO EXCITED to get her back home! Congratulations Mrs. Jackson!

Our Fall Festival last week was a BLAST! Our staff and residents enjoyed a lovely party, thanks to the hard work of our Activities Team. Prizes, food, and games- it couldn't have been a better day!

Mr. Caldwell came to us with a trach and peg tube placed. This is necessary, so he can receive the medication and nutrition he needs, because of his inability to swallow safely. Our Speech Therapist, Karen, has been working with Mr. Caldwell over the last couple of months on strengthening his swallow muscles. As Mr. Caldwell began to improve, his trach was removed, and Karen slowly started introducing him to ice chips to assess his swallowing ability. Every day, Mr. Caldwell got stronger and stronger, until finally, Karen started having him try pureed and easy to chew textures. Because of the hard work of Karen and the rest of our Therapy and Nursing Team, Mr. Caldwell is now able to enjoy three solid meals a day, along with his favorite snack, POTATO CHIPS! From ice chips to potato chips all in two months! Thank you, Karen for all of your time and dedication; and congratulations to Mr. Caldwell!

In recognition of Rehab Week, we talked with one of our residents about what she thinks of our Therapy Team; this is what Ms. Jackson had to say: "My favorite thing about therapy is they are helping me do things on my own."

Ms. Jackson has been working really hard with our Therapy Team in making daily gains towards her goal to return home. With the help of our Rehab Team, Ms. Jackson will be home in no time!

This week, we will be busy celebrating and recognizing the members of our Therapy and Housekeeping Team! It is BOTH Housekeeping Week and Therapy Week. We are truly lucky to have the team we have and we are very excited to spoil them this week! If you haven’t yet, thank a housekeeper, a PT, OT, Speech Therapist, PTA; they sure do deserve it!
