Frank Henry King Sr., 81, of Hyndman, Pennsylvania passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at his home in Londonberry Township.

Frank was born in Holyoke, MA. on September 20, 1943, son of the late Charles Howard and Mildred (Weston) King.

He was formerly married to Teresa Marie King, whom preceded him in death; and Laura (Sulewski) Pinsonnault, of MA.

He is survived by daughter- Laurie A. wife of Robert Wagoner, of NC; daughter- Cherie L. wife of Thomas Anderson, of VA; daughter- Kimberlee S. wife of Troy Risbon, of Everett; son- Frank H. King Jr., of CT; son- Thomas C. husband of Sherry King, of NC; son- Michael R. King, of NC; brother- Robert King, of MA; sister- Nancy King, of MA; 17 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Frank is preceded in death by siblings: Carolyn, Mildred, and William King.

Frank enjoyed yard sales, auctions, Hyndman Senior Center, gardening, motorcycles and the outdoors. He was a member of the Bedford American Legion Post 113. He worked for Savage Arms as a gun maker and was a truck driver for James River Graphics.

He served his country in the United States Army from 1960-1963.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia.

William J. Stiffler

William J. Stiffler, 93, of Bedford, Pennsylvania passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2025 from Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown, PA.

Bill was born in Bedford on July 7, 1932, son of the late Leslie N. and Winnie (Zimmerman) Stiffler.

On November 3, 1956, he married his wife Shirley A. (Fickes), of Bedford.

He is survived by, son- Randy Stiffler, of Bedford; son- William J. Stiffler Jr, of TX; son- Michael Stiffler significant other of Echo, of CA; brother- Harry Stiffler, of Harrisburg; and special grandson Zakary, of CA. Bill is preceded in death by brother- Patrick Stiffler.

He served in the United States Army, during the Korean War. He came home and drove truck for 47 years of service and over 4 million miles with no accidents, first he drove truck for Continental, then for different companies ending with Venenzla Transport, when he retired in 2005. Bill then worked for Cart and drove the Cart van for 5 years.

Bill was a member of the Bedford American Legion Post 113, a past member of the Bedford Elks Lodge No. 1707 for over 50 years, and a longtime member of the Coffee gang at the turnpike McDonald's.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mary Lou Shaffer, 89, of Bedford, Pennsylvania passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2025 at her home in Bedford.

Mary Lou was born in Schellsburg on March 16, 1936, daughter of the late Ernest N. and Margaret E. (Rogers) Kinzey.

She is survived by son- Larry G. husband of Tina (Bernhard) Shaffer, of AR; daughter- Lu Anne wife of Richard Schofield, of Schellsburg; daughter- Chris T. Marsh, of Imler; four grandchildren: Brian widower of Tiffany (Parrish) Shaffer, Trudy wife of Sean McCreary, Nicole wife of Wh**ey Claar, John Bridaham; and six great-grandchildren: Colton, Kyle, Rylie, Shaylie, Emily and Mason. Mary Lou is preceded in death by former husband Gene Shaffer.

She worked at Hedstrom for numerous years. She graduated from Schellsburg Napier High School in 1954. Mary Lou loved traveling, and was a member of the Senior Center and the RSVP.

Franklin was born in Six Mile Run on August 12, 1940, son of the late Robert D. and Thelma (Phipps) Smith; he was raised by grandparents- William and Lillian (Coy) Phipps

He is survived by daughter- Trudy wife of Vaughn Lynn, of Hopewell; son- Franklin David Smith Jr. husband of Tina Smith, of Saxton; daughter- Annette Jean Nenninger-Smith partner of David Brown, of Manns Choice; daughter- Brenda Wallace, of Bedford; son- Craig Brian Smith husband of Val (Hall), of Six Mile Run; sister- Mary Hollinger, of Hopewell; 14 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Franklin is preceded in death by loving wife Nina (Taylor) Smith; infant son- Charles David Smith, daughter Judy D. Smith; granddaughter- Lacey Notestine; and siblings: William Keifman and William Charles Frederick.

Franklin was an ordained Minister, a Barber and a construction worker. He served in the United States Army. He was a musician who played all instruments. Franklin loved photography, gardening, camping and animals.

At the request of Franklin there will be no services.

Shirley M. Mock

Shirley M. Mock Allison, of New Paris, age 89, passed to heaven, her forever home, on August 29, 2025. She was born in the Lovely area, on May 8, 1936, the youngest daughter of the late Clarence and Ethel (Mock) Lamburn.

On July 28, 1955, she married Robert Mock. They had one daughter, Penny Rankin, who is married to Alan Rankin and resides in LaPorte, TX. Penny has two children, Taylor (Robert) Stellan of TX and Tyler (Lauren) Irwin of TN. Shirley has three great grandchildren: Colten, Sadie, and Isaiah Stellan and a great granddaughter Irwin on the way. Shirley was preceded in death by Bob on July 1, 2006.

In September 2012, Shirley married Paul Allison. Shirley was accepted by Paul's family as their "adopted" Mom and Gram. They are Paulette (Keith) Fleegle, Tim Allison, and Terry (Tabitha) Allison. Their children are Keisha (Cole) Over & Kyra, Charlotte, and Hadley Allison. Shirley was preceded in death by Paul on June 7, 2022.

Shirley was also preceded in death by her parents, stepmother Louella Statler, and step brothers, Bob and Bruce Statler. She is the last of her siblings and their spouses: Dorothy Warner (married to Ray), Betty Allison (married to Bud), and Willie (married to Jeannie); as well as her nephew, Barry Stufft. Shirley is survived by 6 nieces and 4 nephews: Jack Allison, Patty Leslie, Cathy Mock, Sherry Rose, Betty Shankle, Dwight Lamburn, Lorraine Deremer, Willie Ray Lamburn, Kirby Lamburn, and Holly Fleegle

Shirley's education began with five yrs at Spruce Hollow and Hoover one-room schools, then 1 yr. at Bedford High School, and 5 yrs. at the Windber High School. She worked for 4 yrs. at the sewing factory in Everett until she and Bob started MOCKS TV. They ran the TV sales and service business together for 40 yrs. before retiring. Bob's passion was playing his guitar so Shirley joined him by playing bass and she said they made a lot of great friends and good memories through music. They had a group by the name of Bedford County Grass. Many times, musicians gathered at their house to play Blue Grass and they also sang at festivals, churches, etc. Shirley also enjoyed traveling, going for walks in nature, and drives to look at colored leaves; but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her loved ones.

Her Christian faith was a very important part of her life. She was a very active member of the Mt. Union Church of Lovely where she was a Sunday School teacher, choir member, part of singing group by name of Julilares, and helped in many other ways. Shirley could talk to anyone and was always willing to help anyone she could, in any way she could. Her caring and love for others was quite evident and she always had extra people at her house. All were welcomed. She touched and blessed the lives of MANY. She loved much AND was much loved. She was bound to hear "WELL DONE MY GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT" when she arrived to heaven.

The family would like to thank the staff of UPMC Home Health and UPMC Hospice for their care and help over the last year. Even they would easily see what a special lady she was and we appreciated them.

Visitation will be at the Mt. Union Church of Lovely located at 2182 Spruce Hollow Road, Alum Bank, PA 15521 on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 between the hours of 5 - 8 pm. The funeral Service will be also be held at the church on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at 11 am.

Interment will be held at Bedford County Memorial Park, Bedford.

Drake was born in Johnstown on December 13, 2005, son of Michael Dishman and Gretchen R. Shaffer.

He is survived by brother- Blaise Dishman husband of Kendyll (Gammon); brother- Cade Dishman; mother- Gretchen R. Shaffer; fiancé- Trinitee Arthurs; grandparents- John husband of Sherry Shaffer, of Bedford; father- Michael Dishman; uncle- Erik husband of Holly Shaffer and son Matthew, of Bedford; aunt- Megan Shaffer and son Oscar; and puppy-Kayla.

He graduated from Bedford High School in the class of 2024. He worked for Clark Contractors as a Laborer. Drake enjoyed working on cars, hunting, fishing and being outdoors.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, August 27, 2025 from 1-3 PM and 5-7 PM at Geisel-Styer Funeral Homes, Bedford.

Ruth M. Mack, 93, of Bedford, Pennsylvania went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at Colonial Courtyard, Bedford, PA.

Ruth was born at the family home on Big Creek Road, Clearville, PA. on May 16, 1932, daughter of the late Frank and Grace Fletcher.

On June 25, 1953, she married her husband Guy R. Mack, who preceded her in death on June 20, 2025.

She is survived by son- Douglas G. Mack, of Richmond, VA; and son- Eddie V. Mack (CAPT, USCG Ret.) and wife Marie Mack, of Seminole, FL; along with step grandchildren: Amy wife of Todd, Joshua husband of Natasha, Allie and Beau. Ruth is preceded in death by siblings: Ira Fletcher and Louise Akers.

In addition to being a homemaker, Ruth worked at several motels in the area as a desk clerk. She also worked as an assistant at Dr. Page Delaney's Dentistry office. Ruth graduated from Everett High School in 1950 and attended the Altoona School of Commerce.

Her Christian faith was first nourished at Shreves Chapel, Clearville, PA. and then at Barndollar Methodist Church in Everett, PA. Later she became a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Bedford.

At the request of Ruth, there will be no public viewing, a private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Interment will be held at Bedford County Memorial Park, Bedford.

Walter D. Spicer

Walter D. Spicer, 96, of Bedford, PA, went to be with the Lord on August 21, 2025. He was born on May 7, 1929 in New Castle, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Elbert Chye Spicer and Olive Victoria (Fraley) Spicer. He grew up in Dravosburg, Pennsylvania and graduated from McKeesport High School.

On April 6, 1956 he married his wife of 69 years, Claire Suzanne (Scarborough) Spicer, who survives along with their son, Frederick Donald Spicer and his wife Janice of Bridgeport, West Virginia; daughter Jill Ann Spicer and husband Jeff McNear of Greenbrae, California; daughter, Joy Eileen Spicer and companion Corinne MacDonald of Savannah, Georgia; two grandchildren, granddaughter Jacqueline Elizabeth Spicer of San Diego, California and grandson Matthew William Spicer and Fiancée Megan McCaffrey of Annapolis, Maryland; Sister Janet Mangus of West Mifflin, Pennsylvania; Brother-in-law Donald Scarborough and wife Gerry of West Mifflin; nieces and nephews.

Walter was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jacqueline Sue Spicer and brothers, William Spicer and Frederick Spicer.

Walter was a devoted Christian, proud American, and loved his family.

Walter was especially proud of his service in the US Army during the Korean War. After basic training at Fort Knox in Kentucky and additional schooling at Fort Monmouth, NJ, Walter served at SHAPE Headquarters in Paris, France under General Dwight Eisenhower, whom he met once while there. Even to the end he loved to relate tales of his army days to whomever would listen.

Walter spent most of his career working in the Pittsburgh area at Busy Beaver Building Centers and later Fagen Building Centers as a salesman, purchasing agent, and estimator.

Walter was always ready with a quick-witted quip. He was an avid hunter, baseball and football athlete and later, coach. He attended all sports games involving his children, which included baseball, softball, tennis, basketball and track and field, sometimes as their coach. He was a furniture maker and a remodeler for all of his residences. He did extensive work on his 1840 log home in the Mann’s Choice, PA area. You could always find Walt on the riding mower or with a toolbelt on his hip and a paintbrush in his hand. He was also an avid reader and had a great knowledge of history, with particularly deep knowledge of the American Civil War. He was also proud of being a 50-plus year member of Bethel Masonic Lodge #761 in Bethel Park, PA.

Walter was a former member of Bedford United Methodist Church where he made many friends. After moving to Friendship Village, he became a member of The Missional Church. He was loved by friends and neighbors.

The family wishes to acknowledge, with gratitude, the Altoona VA home-based program, caregivers Denise and Joyce, Gentiva Hospice, and staff and caregivers at Colonial Courtyard of Bedford.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Geisel-Styer Funeral Homes, Bedford. The service will be at 3:30 PM and will be led by Jim Miller, a good friend of our family. Walter will then be transported to Jefferson Memorial Chapel in Pleasant Hills, Pennsylvania, where a military Honor Guard service will be held. A message will be given by Rev. Jody Dausey with interment in the Garden of the Last Supper Section of Jefferson Memorial Cemetery. Special bagpipe music will be provided by David Scarborough.

Friends and family will be received at Jefferson Memorial Chapel on Friday, August 29, 2025, from 1-2 PM with a funeral service at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, plant a tree in Walter's memory or make a donation to The Missional Church, 136 Park LN, Bedford, PA 15522.

Patricia was born in Buffalo Mills on December 17, 1950, daughter of the late John Franklin "Frank" and Mae Evelyn (Ranker) Arnold.

She is survived by son- RJ (Amber) Griffith, of Bedford; daughter- Christina (Franz) Shelley, of Oxford; son-Barry (Amy) Noel, of Altoona; nine grandchildren: Alexis Anna Marie Noel, Aaron Francis Diehl, Austin Tyler Feathers, Rachel Lynn Shelley, Matthew Donald Shelley, Sadie Jaleen Ling, Jaelynn Victoria Dukes, Christian James Vuckovich, Conner Daniel Vuckovich; one great-grandson- Mark Bumburger; siblings: Jim (Carolyn) Arnold, Nancy Kennell, Linda Christman, Karen Gearhart, Raymond (Robin) Arnold. Patricia is preceded in death by siblings: Janet Deneen, Doris Shippey, and Dalton Arnold.

Patricia was affiliated with the Tulls Hill Bible Church. She was a diehard Pittsburgh Sports fan. She enjoyed watching game shows, playing the PA Lottery, the Hallmark channel, and playing cards, especially Rummy 500, which she always won at.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2025, from 4-6 PM at Geisel-Styer Funeral Homes, Bedford.

James Gilbert "Gib" Wakeman, 79, of Bedford, Pennsylvania was dispatched to Heaven by God on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at UPMC Altoona Hospital, Altoona.

Gib was born in Cumberland on September 23, 1945, son of the late Hiram and Mary Ruth (Beydler) Wakeman. Also, preceded in death by his brother, Fred Wakeman and sister-in-law Dixie Defibaugh.

On June 4, 1967, he married his wife Susan (Defibaugh) Wakeman, of Bedford. This concludes 58 years of marriage.

He is survived by daughter- Tammy Wakeman, of Bedford; son- Scott (Stacey) Wakeman, of Bedford; grandson- Levi (Emily) Wakeman - granddaughter-Ramsey Wakeman, and great-grandson-Jackson James Wakeman.

Gib and his wife worshipped together at the Tulls Hill Bible church.

He loved America and served his country in the United States Army, from 1963- 1969.

Gib owned and operated Wakeman trucking and was in business with his family for more than 60 years. In the 70's he branched out into towing and recovery, with wrecker service. He was well known for his good service and care. He leaves a legend of good work ethics and fairness to his family and employees. His quiet strength and peaceful way of life served him and his family well! He would walk in a room of chaos and bring everyone to laughter by quietly saying "I think it will snow!" Gib was all about trucking, Macks and the color green. He also thought..."Without Family, You Have Nothing!"

James E. Martin, 71, of New Baltimore PA, departed this life on Tuesday, August 12th, 2025 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, with Allyson Horner at his side.

He was the son for the late Cyril L Martin and Pearle G (Speicher) Martin. He is survived by brothers: Mark E. Speicher, of Somerset; David L. Martin husband of Karen (Winegardner), of Berlin; Paul J. Martin and sister Agnes L. wife of Thomas Ratliff Sr., of Martinsburg, WV. He loved his many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. The last 10 years Jim has shared his life with Allyson Mullen Horner.

James was best known as Jim or Po Joe. He was born at Bedford Hospital, May 24, 1954. He lived most of his life in the New Baltimore area. He graduated from Berlin Brothersvalley High School in 1973. He held may jobs over the years, the most important job he had was helping out with his parents in their final years.

He will be joining his mother Pearle, father Cyril, sister-in-law Ruthann (Shaver) Speicher, nephew Michael Gerhardt and niece Kristin (Schardt) Martin.

Jim always has a smile on his face that made you wonder what he was up. He had a love for life and enjoyed traveling around the area with Allyson. He loved his antique farm equipment, especially his John Deere tractor and hit and miss engines. His favorite people were his 3 great nephews, Austin, Weston and Levy. He enjoyed to cruise with Austin where he was his honorary grandpap. You could see him cheering Weston and Levy as they practiced for the peddle pull events.

He enjoyed making apple butter with family and friends in the fall of the year.

Jim was a member for St. John’s the Baptist Catholic Church, New Baltimore, where in his younger years he served as an altar boy.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 10 AM, at St. Johns the Baptist Catholic Church, New Baltimore, with Father Mark Pattock- Celebrant.

A Committal Service will be at St. John's Catholic Cemetery, New Baltimore, PA.

Bob was born in Bedford on December 14, 1931, son of the late John "Billy" and Elizabeth (Ferguson) Fleegle.

He married his first wife Ruth M. (Dibert), who preceded him in death on January 25, 1994. He then married Kathleen M. (Fleegle), who preceded him in death on January 11, 2021.

He is survived by daughter- Karen wife of Rex Hartman, daughter- Sharon wife of Robert Steach, son- Duane (Jackie) Fleegle, son- Keith (Paulette) Fleegle; 14 grandchildren: Brian (Allena) Davis, Stephanie (Wes) Ickes, Eric (Kylee) Davis, Marcy (Brian) Miller, Scott Steach, Shaun (Cory) Steach, Brittanie (Eric) Day, Dana Steach, Joel (Sierra) Fleegle, Justin (Natalie) Fleegle, Jaelynn (Josh) Jones, Keisha (Cole) Over, Josh (Hope) Hartman, Rex Ann (Philip) Chamberlain; along with 17 great-grandchildren; and sister- Dollie (Leon) Whysong. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, both wives, and siblings: Mary Ellen Ferguson, Edith Smith, Sara Nicodemus, Charles Fleegle, and Florean Schnably.

He was a life time member at Sloans Hollow Church, and a member of the Bethel Park Camp Association, Bedford Grange Hall, a 4-H Leader, The Gideons International and spent 25 years as a Scout Leader/Master.

Bob served his country in the United States Army from 1953 through 1955. He worked at Eastern Express for 20 years, Suwak Trucking and was the owner/operator of Fleegle Excavating with his son Duane for over 30 years.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2025 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM and on Friday, August 15, 2025, from 10-11 AM at Geisel-Styer Funeral Homes, Bedford.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025, at 11AM at Geisel-Styer Funeral Homes, Bedford with Pastor Dave Shoenberger officiating.

Interment will be at Bedford County Memorial Park, Bedford, PA.

Military Rites accorded to the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Robert "Bob" L. Fleegle to the Bethel Park Camp Association: PO Box 58 Fishertown, PA. 15539 or to The Gideons International: P.O. Box 140800 Nashville, TN 37214.

The family would like to thank the staff at Nancy's Personal Care Home, caregiver Julie Chappell, Gentiva Hospice and Special granddaughter Stephanie and Wes Ickes for their loving care and warmth towards Bob.
