Naomi J. Ellis

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Naomi J. Ellis (Ackermann), who left us on January 5, 2026 to join her beloved husband, Carey.

Naomi was born to Henry and Verna Ackerman on October 23, 1950, in Windber, PA. She grew up on the family farm and orchard, Hope Fruit Farm, with her older sister Phyllis Ann Strayer. Naomi graduated from Chestnut Ridge High School in 1968, where she was a cheerleader.

She went on to Shippensburg University where she earned a degree in Education, like her mother and sister. Naomi was an elementary school teacher and retired from the Chestnut Ridge school district.

Naomi married Carey, her high school sweetheart, on June 24, 1972.

Carey and Naomi were excited to build their forever home next to the farm where Naomi grew up. There they raised their two sons, Scott and Matthew, and taught their boys all they knew about hunting and gardening. She was a farm girl from her first day of life to her last day on earth.

Naomi dedicated her life to her family. Carey and Naomi were proud grandparents to Mallory, Samuel, Sophia, and Haley. Naomi was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many.

She is survived by her children, Scott (Melissa) and Matthew (Holly), her grandchildren Mallory, Samuel, Sophia, and Haley, her sister and best friend Phyllis Ann Strayer, her brother-in-law Paul Strayer, niece Shelley Lockard, great niece Presley, and many other nieces and nephews.

Isabel J. Patterson

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Isabel J. Patterson, a beloved woman whose life was defined by faith, family, love, and quiet service to others. She lived a long and meaningful life, leaving behind a legacy that will be felt for generations.

Isabel was born on May 23, 1929 in Wolfsburg, Pennsylvania. Daughter of Charles B. Ickes and Hazel R. Ickes (Naugle). She graduated from Bedford High School. She was a faithful and devoted member of the Methodist Church in Wolfsburg. From a very young age, she shared her love of music by playing the piano for the church, a gift she offered generously and joyfully. Isabel was also well known for her dedication to her church community, helping prepare and serve pot pie during Fall Foliage Festivals and on Election Days-traditions she cherished and supported with pride. These acts of service reflected the heart with which she lived her life. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she lived it daily through kindness, humility, and service.

She is deeply loved by her family and friends, all of whom were touched by her warmth, positivity, and unwavering support. Isabel had a special way of lifting others up, and her presence was a source of comfort and encouragement to so many.

More than anything, Isabel valued being present with those she loved. She and her husband, Bill, visited their daughter-in-law Donna in the nursing home almost daily, a testament to their unwavering devotion. In later years, Isabel continued that same selfless love by visiting Bill as often as she could while he resided in the VA home. Being there for others-showing up, offering comfort, and sharing time-was one of the greatest expressions of her love.

On September 19, 1948, she married her husband Reverend William B. Patterson, who preceded her in death on June 8, 2017. They were married by her father-in-law- Rev. Garland Patterson, the two enjoyed 69 years together.

Isabel is preceded in death by her son, Tim Patterson; her daughter-in-law, Donna Patterson; brother Tom Ickes; and sister-in-law Marian Turner.

She is survived by her loving family, including her son, Chad (Becky Stultz) and Tim's wife, Susan; her grandson, Corey (Heather Reinhart); her granddaughter, Leslie Patterson Mock and Leslie's mother, Deborah Patterson Mock; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Connor Patterson and Kaitlyn Patterson.

Isabel now takes her place in heaven alongside those that went before her. She lived a life to be proud of, and her memory will forever hold a big and special place in our hearts.

A viewing will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 10-11 AM at Geisel-Styer Funeral Homes, Bedford.

Paul O. Schlabach

Paul O. Schlabach, 72, of Bedford, Pennsylvania, was born on April 21,1953 in Millersburg, Ohio. He passed peacefully in his sleep on Friday, January 2, 2026, while sitting in his favorite chair, his fight with cancer over at last. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Owen and Ada (Miller) Schlabach, two siblings, Owen, Jr. and Ruth, and a beloved son, Kenny. His surviving siblings are Freeman Schlabach (Guthrie, Kentucky) Leroy Schlabach, (Guthrie, Kentucky) and Esta (Schlabach) Brenneman (Hickory, Kentucky).

Paul married the love of his life, Linda (Miller) Schlabach on March 20, 1975, in Guthrie, Kentucky. They were delighted to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary last year. Paul and Linda were blessed with four children: Nathan (Rebecca) Schlabach, Spruce Pine, NC; Dorcas (Gabriel) Peight, Conneaut Lake, PA; Kenneth (CarmaLinda) Schlabach, Spruce Pine, NC; and Rachel (Leon) Steiner, Wooster, Ohio.

Paul and Linda have 20 grandchildren and a host of friends and family who will carry on his legacy. He loved his work at Keystone Vinyl, the business he started in 2001. Paul loved the Lord above all. Every prayer he prayed ended with "Thy will be done." He was known for his zest for life, his brainy inventions, and his genuine love for people. Paul told great stories, and if he could, he would delight in sharing with us the glory he is experiencing. During his fight with cancer, he reminded us often to stay focused, to love Jesus, and to trust that the Lord knows what He is doing. He stayed cheerful and uncomplaining throughout the trials of his last sickness, and we rejoice that he got his new body even while we mourn the terrific loss of his person here on Earth.

On the night he died Paul quoted "What a day that will be!" and gave a weak thumbs up even though he could not join in the singing. His testimony always ended with "to God be the glory."
