A big thank you to for leading us through a powerful and engaging two-day workshop on Understanding Social Identity last week!

We’re grateful for the opportunity to deepen our awareness around identity, privilege, and systemic inequity. These conversations aren’t always easy, but they are necessary—and we appreciate the thoughtful space created for learning, reflection, and growth.

Looking forward to continuing this important work together.

Direct Support Professionals Week Spotlight: Wenley Morissaint

As we continue to celebrate Direct Support Professionals Week, today we shine a light on one of our newest and brightest team members at The Edinburg Center — Wenley Morissaint.

Wenley joined The Edinburg Center just four months ago, shortly after moving to the United States from Haiti. His passion for helping others and serving his community has been a lifelong calling, and we are proud that he chose to continue that journey here with us.

Wenley works as a Direct Support Professional in one of our group homes, where he quickly made a positive impact. Whether he's running daily activities, preparing meals with residents, or planning fun community outings, Wenley brings joy, warmth, and dedication to everything he does. His goal is simple but powerful - to make every resident feel welcome, included, and important.

“I always try to be accessible,” Wenley shares. “I want the residents to know that they can come to me if they need help.” His genuine care and open-hearted approach have built strong relationships based on trust and respect.

What Wenley enjoys most about his role is getting to know each resident on a personal level. “I like finding out what they love to do — then helping them do it,” he says. Whether it’s a favorite hobby, a new interest, or just spending quality time together, Wenley is always there to support and encourage.

Outside of work, Wenley enjoys listening to music and spending time with his family. His cousins are like brothers to him, and family remains a central part of his life. And here’s a fun fact, Wenley loves to dance, even if he says he’s not very good at it! In his own words: “I like dancing, but dancing doesn’t like me!”

Wenley’s energy, compassion, and commitment embody everything we celebrate during Direct Support Professionals Week. We’re lucky to have him as part of The Edinburg Center family, and even luckier that our residents get to experience his incredible care each and every day.

Thank you, Wenley, for all that you do!

Employee Spotlight: Francis Ndawula Celebrating Direct Support Professional Recognition Week

As part of Direct Support Professional Recognition Week, we are honored to spotlight some of the incredible team members whose compassion and commitment make a lasting impact every day.

Today, we’re proud to highlight Francis Ndawula, one of our dedicated Direct Support Professionals.

Francis joined The Edinburg Center in 2022, shortly after moving to the United States from Uganda. In Uganda, Francis worked with the Red Cross, offering aid and support to those in need. He brought this passion for service with him when he came to the United States and found that working at The Edinburg Center was a natural continuation of that calling.

For the past two years, Francis has provided hands-on support to individuals with disabilities, helping them manage their daily routines and live fulfilling lives. From ensuring proper hygiene and nutrition to assisting with laundry, medication management, and medical appointments, Francis plays a vital role in the well-being of those he supports. He also helps individuals stay active with walks in the park, maintain strong family connections, and, above all, feel valued and cared for.

“The most rewarding part of my job,” Francis shares, “is seeing the people I support happy. Knowing I’ve made a difference in their lives, that’s what keeps me going.”

Francis describes his work at The Edinburg Center as both fun and challenging. “Every day brings something new,” he says, “and that keeps the work meaningful.”

Outside of work, Francis enjoys spending time with his family. He loves to read, watch movies, and cook, especially traditional Ugandan dishes. His favorite meal to prepare is posho, a comforting dish similar to mashed potatoes made with beans.

Francis’s compassion, dedication, and positive spirit embody the values of The Edinburg Center. We are grateful to have him as part of our team and thank him for the incredible impact he makes every day.

Please join us in celebrating Francis and all of our exceptional Direct Support Professionals this week!
