The optometrists at Bedford Family Eye Care have been serving Bedford and the surrounding communities of Vinton, Thaxton, Montvale, Big Island, Forest, Goode, Evington, Huddleston, Moneta, and Smith Mountain Lake for over 60 years! Our story started in the 1950s downtown in the age before computers and insurance. The office started seeing only a few patients a week and since has grown to a full time, multi-doctor practice. We have an optical lab on-site and a large selection of frames, including prescription and non-prescription sunwear. Also visit our webpage at bedfordfamilyeye.com. We've got great things in sight! We feel our strength is individual attention and not a "hurried" eye exam where you're just a number. We offer an expanded array of services with the addition of our TPA certified medical optometrist. Our services include emergency and non-emergency eye care, routine eye exams, contact lens fittings, cataract evaluations, surgical co-management, pediatric eye care (6 months and up), treatment of eye infections, diseases, diabetic eye exams, mild to severe dry eye problems, foreign body removals, thorough retinal evaluations, and more. We have a full optical on site and experienced staff to assist you in your eyeglass needs. We also accept most major vision insurance plans as well as CareCredit. With convenient appointment times and Saturday hours available, we make scheduling your eye exams easy. Our doctors:
-Jared P. Quesenberry, O.D.
-Associate Optometrist (coming 2017)
-David A. Gladwell, O.D. (retiring in Dec. 2014)
Q & A:
1. How much does an eye exam cost? The fees all depend on your coverage and the type of service provided. We are a private practice, full scope optometry clinic and manage eye disease, provide emergency services, as well as routine eye care and contact lens fittings. We take both medical and vision insurance plans. Please bring BOTH your vision AND medical insurance cards/information (even if you think they won’t pay for your visit). If you don’t have insurance or need to pay yourself, let us know as there are rotating deals, and we will let you know the current well-vision/routine special.
2. What do I need to bring? Please bring your ID, your vision AND medical insurance cards, a list of current medications & allergies, your glasses (even if you are a contact lens patient or choose not to wear them), sunglasses, contact lens Rx if you are a new patient.
3. How long does an eye exam take? It usually takes around an hour and 15 minutes for a comprehensive eye exam the first time you see Dr. Quesenberry.
4. Will I be dilated? Most likely, Yes. However, don’t worry. We use mild drops and in some cases can make it even milder so most people are hardly affected.
