We’re expanding access to emergent care in our community!
Centra is partnering with Intuitive Health to bring the first hybrid emergency room and urgent care facility to the greater Lynchburg region, combining urgent care and emergency services in one convenient location near Timberlake Road and U.S. 501.

By bringing urgent care and emergency services together under one roof, this new facility will expand access to emergent care, reduce wait times, and make it easier for patients to receive the right level of care—especially during evenings, weekends and peak illness seasons.

This partnership is part of Centra’s continued investment in modernizing care and meeting the evolving needs of our community. Construction is expected to begin by the end of the year, and we look forward to sharing more as the project moves forward. Centra visited Moneta Library this week as special guests during their Books For Fun children’s activity. Sidney Early, MSN, APRN, NP-C, CNRN, Lead APP of Centra Neurology, taught the kids how to be Stroke Superheroes by knowing when to call 911 if a parent or guardian isn’t feeling well and shows signs of a possible stroke. She also introduced them to the BE FAST acronym to help identify common symptoms. Thank you to the Moneta Library for having us as part of their wonderful educational program!

We spot PACE buses traveling through our community every day, yet many people may not fully understand what PACE is, who it serves or the impact it has. Behind every PACE bus and facility is a dedicated team of transportation drivers, activity coordinators, Caregivers and social workers, each working together to foster a culture of compassion, connection and kindness for every participant.

PACE which stands for Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly helps adults ages 55 and older live safely and independently at home through coordinated, team-based care. But what does this look like day to day? It goes far beyond providing transportation to and from the PACE center for activities and medical appointments. PACE also emphasizes meaningful community outreach and strong connections to local resources. Learn more about the faces behind PACE: https://bit.ly/48N3yyI

🌸 What a wonderful weekend in Bedford! 🌸
We had so much fun being part of two beloved community events! Our Community Health Workers joined the Thrive Outside Festival, bringing along a fun and interactive nutrition game for kids 🥕🍎. Later that day, our caregivers were out cheering on participants at the Blossom to Bottle 3/5K at Johnson’s Orchard 🏃‍♀️🌼. The race raises money for the Bedford Bedford Area Family YMCA's cancer programs.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by, played along, raced, and celebrated community wellness with us. We love being out and about, supporting healthy, happy neighbors! 💙 Bedford County Parks & Recreation

🦸‍♀️🦸‍♂️ Stroke Superheroes in the Making! 📚
Centra Stroke Coordinators recently visited Big Island Library as special guests during their Books For Fun children’s activity—and learning never looked so fun! The kids discovered how they can be Stroke Superheroes (complete with capes and masks!) by knowing when to call 911 if a parent or guardian isn’t feeling well and shows signs of a possible stroke.
They also learned the B.E. F.A.S.T. acronym to help recognize stroke symptoms:
✅ B – Balance: Sudden dizziness or loss of coordination
✅ E – Eyes: Vision changes or trouble seeing
✅ F – Face: Facial drooping or uneven smile
✅ A – Arm: Weakness or numbness in one arm or leg
✅ S – Speech: Slurred speech or trouble speaking
✅ T – Time: Call 911 immediately—every minute counts!
We’re so grateful for our partnership with Bedford County Libraries and their continued support in educating our community. 💙
