Mid Cities Psychiatry specializes in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mental health, including substance use disorders. We are qualified to assess both the mental and physical aspects of psychological disturbance. Mental disturbances refers to a wide range of mental health conditions — disorders that affect your mood, thinking and behavior. Examples of mental illness include depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, eating disorders and addictive behaviors. But a mental health concern becomes a mental illness when ongoing signs and symptoms cause frequent stress and affect your ability to function. Mental disturbances can make one miserable and can cause problems in one’s daily life, such as at work or in relationships. In most cases, symptoms can be managed with a combination of medications and counseling (psychotherapy). People seek psychiatric help for many reasons. The problems can be sudden such as a panic attack, or frightening hallucinations, thoughts of su***de, or hearing "voices." Or they may be more long-term, such as feelings of sadness and hopelessness or anxious feelings that never seem to lift, causing everyday life to feel distorted or out of control.

In a world that’s constantly scrolling, double-tapping, and comparing, protecting your mental health matters more than your online presence. 💛

Social media can inspire and connect us, but it should never define our worth. Remember: you are more than the numbers, the filters, and the highlight reels. Logging off is self-care. Choosing peace is powerful.

Today, choose balance. Choose boundaries. Choose you.

Reactive abuse isn’t about being “too emotional.”
It’s what happens when someone is pushed to their breaking point after repeated manipulation and control.
If you constantly feel guilty after conflicts, question your sanity, or feel emotionally drained, you may be experiencing a trauma response, not a character flaw.

Healing begins with understanding.
And support makes recovery possible.
