Mid Cities Psychiatry specializes in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mental health, including substance use disorders. We are qualified to assess both the mental and physical aspects of psychological disturbance. Mental disturbances refers to a wide range of mental health conditions — disorders that affect your mood, thinking and behavior. Examples of mental illness include depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, eating disorders and addictive behaviors. But a mental health concern becomes a mental illness when ongoing signs and symptoms cause frequent stress and affect your ability to function. Mental disturbances can make one miserable and can cause problems in one’s daily life, such as at work or in relationships. In most cases, symptoms can be managed with a combination of medications and counseling (psychotherapy). People seek psychiatric help for many reasons. The problems can be sudden such as a panic attack, or frightening hallucinations, thoughts of su***de, or hearing "voices." Or they may be more long-term, such as feelings of sadness and hopelessness or anxious feelings that never seem to lift, causing everyday life to feel distorted or out of control.

Mental health care isn’t only for moments of crisis.
Many people seek psychiatric support while they’re still functioning well—to manage stress, prevent burnout, and protect their long-term emotional health.
Early care builds resilience, strengthens coping skills, and helps you stay ahead of emotional exhaustion—before life feels overwhelming.

✨ Taking care of your mental health early is not a weakness. It’s a form of self-respect.

Social media connects us—but it can also quietly impact how we think, feel, and see ourselves.
For teens especially, constant comparison and online validation can contribute to anxiety, low self-esteem, and emotional burnout.

At Mid Cities Psychiatry, we support teens and adults in building healthier relationships with technology through compassionate, evidence-based mental health care.

A new year doesn’t demand perfection—it invites intention.

As you set goals for the months ahead, remember: mental health goals matter just as much as external achievements. When your mind is supported, everything else becomes more sustainable.
This year, set goals that help you feel balanced, focused, and emotionally strong.
Progress starts with one intentional step.
